    I figured what the hell, try it just to see if it would work.
    Picked up a Special neck & installed a lock nut shelf. The neck had to be massaged a little to fit the pocket. Good'n'tight!
    Plays really smooth.

    This is a Charvel Model neck I installed a shelf on awhile back....same idea.

    very nice. so part of the fretboard was filed down and a piece of wood was glued on? would love to learn how to do it....

    The FB is not touched
    The original nut is higher than a lock nut. Need to raise that area up & support it.

    i see. so you just remove the original nut and glue a shelf to support the locknut?

    Yep. Really, I just used a neck with a lock nut as a template. Used the same measurements.

    OK, here's some close ups. Enjoying this 'lil mutt.
    The nut shelf is actually wider than the Charvel I posted earlier. More than half of the nut is supported.
