Yeah, I agree Stef...but the German gymnast that went right before him was awesome as well, didn't think he could be beat until this guy did that triple release move...

I agree with the tax thing, but if those athletes deduct the probably hundreds of thousands they spent to get there, they may actually end up ahead on the deal. I'm sure they're running it like a business, keeping track of all expenses and whatnot.

Of course, I also think it's wrong to tax lotto winnings, but hey. You are more likely to be hit by lightning, run over by a bus, and bitten by a shark simultaneously than win a Lotto, but in the off chance you do hit it, the IRS is there to grab about 30 percent of it. Shakedown.

Meh! Cammarelle just taught England the art of boxing, but HOW STRANGE the judges made the british guy win... in England.
Does anybody still consider the Olympic games as the cradle of fair play?

    Here's the TRUE Gold Medal!!!

Fair play and olympics? What are you talking about Stef?

Yes I think the Olympics is still about fair play and Britain earned all our medals fair and square. I've really enjoyed the games just a shame so many news reports about other teams bitching about losing against athletes from countriesthey assumed could be easily beat. Seems success still makes some jealous, sad really. I've enjoyed games even if Britain were not in the running. Think in some respects the coverage could have been better like for the modern pentathlon.

The worst part of the games for me was the arrogance of some athletes.

Some that come to mind are the Female Russian gymnast who was pissed most of the time, the self proclaimed "legend" runner U. Bolt, the USA 4x track team almost in tears by winning silver (WTF!!!), the Brazilian soccer team....just about everything with them including tears for winning Silver.

I cannot stand all these billionaire professionals going to Olympics.
Games have to go back to their original spirit!

Oh sorry to shatter your illusion but her cherry is fully intact LMFAO.

Rule Britannia very proud of Team GB and every single medal they rightfully won. Shame so many were shocked by our performance to the point they had to claim foul in a sad and desperate attempt to change the result.

Closing ceremony was excellent too. Sadly its back to dull soaps on TV so I'm off to do something else instead as its inspired me to start fencing again and rejoin my old team now my ankle is healed.

@Kostas.... Why is it an insult? So you still want it as it was back in 8BC? Chariot racing and blokes running about with their dicks hanging out? Women not allowed to participate? You need to lighten up buddy!

@Stefano.. The Italian got beat. What's your problem? It was a good fight. The English lad and the Italian both took some ferocious punches to the head and body.. The British guy won. Judges decision. Not British Judges..
Unfortunately your favourite can't always win. I've watched boxing for years and seen decisions go to what I thought was wrong.. But. Hey ho that's life.. Get over it. You'd argue with your shadow if you had the chance.

I think these Olympic games were superb. Fantastic venues some amazing WR timings and I suppose it just comes down to jealousy. Especially from our European neighbours that Little ole Great Britain put on a performance that you know was incredable, and you just couldn't wait for it to fail etc...
Comments from our French friend about the cycling. What do you know about how popular cycling is in Britain? It's always been extremely popular. (nothing to do with an English guy winning Tour de France) would it?

An absolute fantastic Olympic Games... Makes me even prouder of being British after watching that !!

And also it's weird EVERY home country always wins MANY MORE medals than in other Olympics played abroad...
I've always had a dream: abolish all those sports where medals are assigned by a judge!

The problem is that EVERY neutral commentator or boxing expert from EVERY part of the world got shocked and indignant cause the final judgement was unfair. 3 points advantage for our boxer at the end of second round... then 3 points to the Brit just in the last EQUABLE round. Gold medal to the Brit due to "preferences" of the judges. LMAO, what a comedy!
But no problems: these things always happened also in previous Olympics and they will in Brazil too, until medals are assigned by "influenced" judges.

There´s absolutely nothing weird to it, Stef. It would be pretty weird if it was the other way around. Every country that gets the Olympics starts a rat race to bring that specific project to a huge success. In the case of UK there were spent (correct me if I´m wrong UK-bros) around 9.6 bln Euros (almost 12 bln USD) at a whole. A lot of that budget every time goes to the funding of athletes, so as to secure that they have the best of all worlds possible to get in perfect shape for the games. That way, there is always this advantage of the "deepest pocket" going for the nation that is hosting the next Olympics.

But then, when it comes to getting the last 5 % out of each athlete ... lets not get fooled, every single one of those 10,000 guys and gals was helped by something called "recreational pharmaceuticals". There´s so much at stake at such events nowadays, that no one would flip on his TV-set - or, alas, buy a ticket or a pair of Usain-Bolt-trainers - for boring "clean" sports. Just my 2c, tho.

@Stefano. They would of used the count back system I suppose to come to their decision. That's the second time he's beaten the Italian now

    Agreed 100%

Felt really proud of my country during these games. Proud to be British and very proud of our Team GB guys and girls. Just shame its over.

I got my fencing kit out washed it cleaned my swords and ready to rejoin my old team/club The Four of Clubs. Starting back the gym to get back in shape now I am fully back on my feet again. They said these games were to inspire a generation well its inspired me and I can't wait to restart and take up skiing and badminton again too

As you should be. The games were great this year, as were the opening and closing ceremonies. London looked beautiful!

As far as judges and judging goes, it's the same at all of the games in any city that hosts, unpredictable at times, very fair most of the time, and "what the f*ck were you watching!!" at times. And that will never change.

You're too serious Andy, you take everything in 1st degree. This was just some little sarcasm from me. But as far as I know, 2012 was the 1st year a British team was involved in the tour de France ... in comparison, French, Italian, Spanish, Belgian, Dutch, German, US (etc...) teams have been involved for ages. I guess I'm allowed to say that, maybe, cycling is a bit more popular in those other countries. Maybe

Those games were great. But let's not take that too seriously.

Absolutely I'm serious. I see it all the time, and I've heard it a million times. I've travelled Europe extensively. The French cant stand us,and pretty much everyone else in Europe for that matter. You should of tried to visit Spain after the Falkland war! I can only put it down to jealousy. Although I've never had a problem in Belguim, Holland, turkey, Germany or Austria to be fair
It would kill a Frenchman to say the British did a good job about anything credit should be given where credit is due. This is a thread about London 2012 !! All I'm seeing is a load of cheap shot comments from persons unqualified to make such comments!! Personally I thought it was a fantastic games and showed the world a nice snap shot of our country and some of our fantastic sights in London...
