Default Before I leave Feedback, let's say the description was not very accurate. Hondo

I can't whine too much. I love cheap guitars. I broke my rule and bought this Hondo Fame. The guitar arrived safe and sound. It's my version of cool. Anyway, it has Alnico singles and a very interesting humbucker. All I had to do was make it work. There are only a few issues. I could not adjust 2 of the saddles screws because they were too short. Home jury rig. The humbucker was missing one of three adjustment screws. The nut can not be stock. You can't imagine how high the strings sit. The controls are sticky. The lower tone pot is shot and missing a knob. It does have vintage Grover tuners. The trem is kinda cool. If I had seen this at a fleamarket, I would have paid around $75. Now, I'm all in. I will make it work. http://www.ebay.com/itm/170870772510...84.m1439.l2649

Interesting, that's the same dude who's been trying to sell his ZX20 for over 3 years on our craigslist!

I did send him a eB message telling him he's damn lucky I bought this. It can be a cool guitar. Anyway, I told him that I will not leave Feedback.

I pointed out how fucked the listing was. I sent a PM suggesting not to do that again. I'm not the kind of person that is going to cut him a new one for the whole eBay world to see. If he heeds my words, he wins. You are right about his less than stellar creds. Anyway, that's not a good start.

I would say the guy is damn lucky that you bought it instead of me. It didn't sound like it was anywhere near the "Excellent Condition" that he described. It is a cool looking guitar though Only you can give the guitar the much needed attention that is deserves. Enjoy your little time capsule.

It's a Hondo, sounds factory mint to me..... It's just hard to polish a turd without it melting some.

I know, I get no respect. Why is it that somewhere I have a Hondo Mastercaster. Circa 1985. Look it up. It's a fine guitar. I guess, my point was more directed to a seller describing an item.

I can't go back on my saying I won't leave feedback. However, after really looking at this guitar, I would have left a Negative. I can deal with the electrical stuff. It's the neck that is the big problem. There are, at least, 10 frets that are lifting. Hondo did make good guitars. This particular guitar was one of them. Granted, it's a plywood body. But it's mahogany. The singles are Alnico. The tuners are the same Grovers that were used on lower end Kramers. Anyhow, I have a rather semi-expensive platform to see if I can really restore a guitar.

First of all I have to say all is right in the universe. Fett bought another guitar. hehe

Fett, I don't mean to tell you your business but if he were smart he would give you a partial refund as a way to make it right. from what you've said and what I read in the ad it was a complete lie. I'm not even sure it's a 70s model. it looks more like an 80s/90s when they were making Jacksons.
Dude, nothing is more fun than a new challenge for a project but unless he kisses your ass for taking that off his hands and makes it right I would ship it back and report it to ebay that it wasn't as advertised. Just remember that total feedback rating will influence the next person and they may not know crap about fixing a guitar.
But hey, that's just me and I know they would probably give you bad feedback if you did it to them.

This transaction is, by far, the worst one. On average, I have had great transactions with sellers that have just started. The neck is shot. It's a maple/maple neck. I know that old guitars can have glue loosen up on the fretboard. I know now to fix that. Not this time. The separation happened wayback when. It's beyond repair. In retrospect, I should have taken more time examining the overall condition of the guitar. Oh well.

He's even more of a scam artist than it seems. Got a negative feedback (the source of his 80% rating ) a few months back for deciding he didn't want to give up that same guitar for the low price, after a winning bid was placed:

Yikes!!!! What a world. There are some good parts. Sometimes you win and somethimes you lose. I lost on this one. Thanks. I am going to back up and I am going to leave Negative Feedback. This one takes the cake and he needs to be callled out. I did send him an email to see how he responds before I do this.

An update. It seems I have a case. eBay provided a shipping label with the shipping on them. They get the Tracking Number. I read all of the instructions and did exactly what they stated. We shall see if they actually refund my money.
