    Default Holoflash guys...help me out

My Pacer Custom II is starting to get some major finish cracks. So much that it will flake/chip off soon. Any of you guys having this problem? Anyone get the clear re-done? If so, how'd it turn out? I'm scared to ruin the holoflash. Thanks doods!

is it in the same way that some of the old NightSwan 'lightning storm' formed cracks in the clear? not that it matters, but just curious.

maybe some of the guys that actually shot finishes can comment for certain, but it may depend on how deep the crack goes and how much clear is on the guitar. it's my understanding that if it's not too deep that a good finish guy can take the clear down a bit and re-apply it. if not, it might mean a total refinish. on the plus side, there are plenty of resources online to find out how to do a holo finish. since your one guitar was done by Bo Pittman, maybe he might also be able to do a total holo re-finish on it. but start with seeing if the flaws are just in the clear and take it from there.

The cracks are getting really bad. They will chip off down to the holo. I absolutely do not want it reholo'd. I'll just put it in a case and store it if that is my only option.

eric, most ppl don't even holo flash their guitar if they do it. i'm guessing you don't have to worry about it.

do you mean, when they make their own holoflash? or the factory didn't put a clear on the holo finishes before they went to market?

docktah scaree, is your holo a facotry paint or an aftermarket paint?

When I bought my PC2 it arrived with a few finish cracks as well. It probably didn't help that I bought it in January, and had it shipped to Minnesota in -20F weather. I have thought about having someone that's a professional touch it up, but it hasn't gotten any worse since I bought it 3 years ago, so I figure why bother.

Guys. I think something got lost here. Let me try again...

I have an ORIGINAL holoflash. The ORIGINAL clear is cracking. I want to have it reCLEARED to preserve it. I don't want it reholoflashed. I wanted to know if anyone has had teir original holo do this and if they got it fixed.

There's not much you can do to fix the cracks. You can drop fill them with clear, sand the whole thing and rebuff, but you'll still see the cracks.

Not much you can do once that starts. Its basically delaminating since the clear was literally just sitting on top of the holo, there is no bond.

yeah, that's what I was trying to get at (see yesterday at 6:55). no idea htf it got off into aftermarket diy holo finishes.

the best you can probably hope for is to find a very skilled painter that can take the clear down as far as possible without getting into the holo and having the clear re-applied. since you know how deep the cracks go, you should be able to determine for yourself if it's worth trying that or not.

best thing you can probably do is just send that holo to me and buy yourself a new Kramer from Eric. problem solved.
