Default My Reb Beach Prototype Pacer Deluxe

In case you missed these photos in my last post, I thought I would start a new one. It is an '85 Pacer Deluxe with EMG (85 and SA's). The previous owner installed the pups and removed one of the tone knobs to relocate the volume knob which kept getting in the way. I installed the LED light in the coil tap hole. It is used to determine the battery life. The guitar was originally black but I painted it with color changing paint. I used the wrong clearcoat, so I will have to redo it again at a later date. I bought the very rare fully bound neck on ebay last month. Sorry if I outbid one of my fellow Forum mates. The original banana neck is shown in one of the pictures. It will be for sale soon. Yes, I know that Reb used an 89 EMG and had used two different variations of Kramer bound headstocks in two different Pacers. I just have a soft spot for fully bound necks. Hope you enjoy the photos and let me know what you think of this long-awaited project.

Looks good. Not as common as a certain striped Kramer.

Looks great! I think the flipflop came out really well.

Wasn't reb's just a candy blue or something?

I watched that video the other night. That neck has the Kramer logo on the 12th fret. The one in the Seventeen video doesn't have it. They probably both are Flip-flop blue or it's the same guitar with a new neck. I liked the effect in the Seventeen video and I am happy with the way mine turned out. It's not an exact replica, it's my artistic impression of the effect of light. Not to worry, I understand that you weren't trying to discredit my prototype, but you were only trying to help me if I were making an exact duplicate. Thanks again for your input.

There's been a few threads about the guitar(s)' colors.... the jury may still be out. http://www.kramerforum.com/forum/sho...ch-Pacer-color

You really did capture the Seventeen/guitar vibe though, better than anything I've seen

Not trying to discredit your build in any way, just wanted to share the video with you if you haven't seen it. I think you did a great job, not denying that bro!

Thats a great paint job. you managed to get the effect of how the paint looked in the video under those stage lights but in normal day light. Fantastic job

    I love it,coolest deluxe ever

I do think that the colors at the video are very saturated thats the reason why the colors look so bright, its a candy blue

To think I basically had two of those minus pickups, and still have both of the bodies lying about in the exact same color.

    Default Flip Flop secret

It's not much of a secret. I found this can while shopping at Lowes a few weeks ago.

I tried other attempts at this paint job with using a can of turquoise blue and a metallic purple. The result was OK but I didn't like it. So I sanded it down and tried again. After I found this Rustoleum version, I thought I'd make one more attempt. As you can see, it turned out better than I hoped for. You need to use a black basecoat before you apply this paint. Just like the process for the Holoflash finish. The paint is mostly clear with alot of metallic flake in it. If you don't have the basecoat, it won't turn out correct. I'm almost tempted to try other basecoat colors and see the effect. I know that aerosol cans aren't the best paints to use, but I wanted to give it shot. Any cheers or jeers will be equally appreciated.

No jeers... looks good, I wonder how it'd react over other bases. If it'd even show up over white..

    I think it looks fine.

and don't sweat the EMG 89, as that wasn't even available when he had the Kramer. he started using that when he went to Ibanez. so yours is plenty accurate.
