Just like dancing, you're more relaxed after a few drinks and with playing too, lol. I plan on getting loose, Muahahahaha!!!! I'm gonna have some fun. I miss the band, we always had soo much fun together. When we were playing, we had 2 city blocks "booked" up with prople, kids and passer-bys. We hardly ever had to buy any beer, it was always there, lol. Now I jam by myself, but still gives me some peace. I just want my drive back. When you're playing in front of people, you wanna be at your best and now it's just not the same, but yet I'm getting better anyways, just not as fast. Hope you guys have a great weekend as well. I'll drink beer for you, you can drink whiskey for me. Keep up the jams dude!!!

It's not how fast you are it's how much style you have getting there. I'm actually faster than I've ever been but I put a lot of time into it. Whats funny is I can play something with several mistakes and be disgusted with myself and others think I'm a rock god! We are always our own worst critic. I've gone back to recordings that I hated and listened with "open ears" to find they were actually pretty good. Keep rocking and you'll be amazed what you can do when you put your mind to it.

I'm so sorry you feel like giving up... Please don't!!! Everyone on this board who's been playing a while has felt that way at one time or another. It's a path you have to take to get to be good. I'm sure Joe Satriani, Allan Holdsworth, etc. has felt this way at one time or another. Take me for example, I have little hands, so playing guitar was especially hard for me. I come from a non musical family, but I learned from Doug Marks, 'if you truly have the desire to play, the talent is there' so I plugged away year after year, not knowing if I made progress or not. But eventually I did. Does it take some longer to get there than others? Sure, but the enjoyment of playing is the end reward you're looking for. It took me longer to get there than these 15 yr olds who can shred in a year or 2, but you know, it's not a race.

Record yourself playing as you learn and listen back to those recordings. You'll be amazed at your progress..

I've been playing now over 30 years and love it for the pure pleasure of playing. Please don't give up.. All of us here on the Kramer forum will help you out.
