    Default Myles Kennedy

I was just checking out some of the new Slash album - Apocalyptic Love - Of course Slash is always cool, a great guitarist/song/riff writer.

Myles is a great singer too.
But is anyone else bored with his vocal on Slash's music? Or doing G-n-R covers?

I may get bitch slapped (or you may feel the same way and be glad your not alone) but I am just not feeling any originality from Myles with Slash right now.

    Any one?

I was just watching Slash's latest live DVD concert on HD Net and I feel the opposite. It's so nice to hear the G N R stuff sung in key with a tight band. It actually makes the songs more enjoyable.

Good point. Some of the G-n-R stuff does sound really good with Myles. I am just having a little trouble with some of the new stuff I have heard lacking in originality. By that I mean that it sounds like stuff he has already done.

I do think he is a great singer and see why Slash has latched onto him.

Maybe I need to download the new new Slash and give it 3 or 4 listens some albums need.

    Keep the comments coming guys

I think when Slash is involved in a project you're always going to hear those same influences coming through. That concert with Myles was so good I actually went back to my VHS tape of G N R playing in NYC (the one that MTV used to air all the time) Talk about night and day...better band, better singing better everything. This band Slash has currently is way better than any incarnation of Guns N Roses, only problem is the original G N R wrote some great songs.

Yep, that´s true. I was a die hard G´n R fan back in the day and it was mostly because of Slash´s playing and writing. His current stuff is always great but (for lack of better words) a bit rough at the edges. That was what his "Yang" smoothed out. Axl and Slash were able to write stuff in the epic quality of the Toxic Twins, Page/Plant and/or Jaggers/Richards. Each on his own both are good but far from legendary. Looking at the billboards tho, I have to say that good is enough to blow most of nowadays airplay clean out of the water.

What always amazes me about MK is his ability to feel right into the song and his voice spanning four clean octaves, which is rather unique in rock music. Since I´m liking Alter Bridge too it is easy tho, to get a bit OD´ed by this voice in times.

But, hey, that´s just my .02$

Ya, that's what I'm saying. Great voice, but sometimes his style gets to be a little much.
Slash really does have a great band going on and everything he is doing is way better than the Axl Rose band aka Guns and Roses.

I agree about Miles Kennedy - awesome range, but I'm not so crazy about the 'timbre' of his voice, maybe a bit too clean??

I really dug Rod Jackson, the singer for the 2nd Snakepit album, I wonder why Slash never did any more work with him?
Bolt on necks are cool because you can take them off and use them as swords to fight your friends with. Wait, actually, bad idea. Unless you have a shield (Hint hint: the body)

I´ve been thinking the same thing. That was a great album and I liked it way better than the VR-stuff.

I'll take the bitch slappin for ya Puddy
Funny this came up, as I just (tried) watched the new GC special with Myles and Slash last weekend. I was never a GNR fan, and I think Slash is extremely over-rated, but I still give him props and respect him for his accomplishments. His playing was perfect and fitting, but two songs into the show I was lookin for the remote. Not that Myles has a 'bad' voice, but something about it was soooo annoying to my ears that I couldn't take anymore. Not sure if it was his tone, annunciations, etc....but really got under my skin. Cant think of any other vocalist that has ever effected me that way....(accept maybe Jim Gilette from Nitro, or Fran Drescher's laugh)

He needs some more dirt and passion. I watched some of his stuff live with Slash covering GnR.... It seems like he doesn't fully commit to the material. Pitch perfect but tone deaf....It's like someone got handed a song for an American Idol audition.
