It depends on what tone/feel you're looking for. One guitar will work better than another.
I've had a few LPs & LP style guitars over the years, for me it always comes down to 2 things........heel joint & the switch in the wrong spot. IMO

The bad point of the LP is the weight

I have one of the chambered models (2007) and the thing is light - tone is great too.
Different than non-chambered? Perhaps, but not enough to really make a difference...
the weight is way different though.

I have 2 LP that are not weight relieved a 2002 and a 2003. They are about 3lbs lighter that my two maple body R5 Deluxes. The Deluxes are weighing in at 13lbs +.
