    Default asking a favor

    Hey Guys,
I've never done this and if its against any rules please remove but,
I have a small favor to ask.
I run a Medical Marijuana Collective out in California.
the People voted to approve the use of medicinal cannabis back in 1996.
here we are 16 years later still fighting for patients to have safe access.
anyway.. to make a long story short there is a petion going around right now asking that the Feds stop wasting taxpayer money on raids of legitimate shops.
the states have decided and the Feds should step aside.

Any government resources spent even on illegal weed is wasted money.

It isn't a gateway drug and it isn't a crime multiplier like meth and crack etc.
Sometimes you make a statement, and some bonehead comes in and references something that you aren't even talking about - I love that.

The hypocrisy in our government is ridiculous!
I know thats an understatement but how can you classify something as having no medicinal value and hold a patent on the medicinal properties of the same thing?

I'm going to stop cuz this will turn into a long ass rant!!!

I dont know where to begin!
EVERY president has smoked weed, some if not most of them while they were in office!this country is so bought and paid for by big pharma, its amazing the lies people still believe about cannabis!
If the Feds shut us down... Where do you think most of my patients will be getting there meds?
    yep, back on the street!
more than 20 people die a day from taking otc drugs like asprin yet a weed that has NEVER had a death caused by its use alone is a schedule I narcotic!!
you gotta be shitting me! with PROVEN health benefits include everything from anti carcinogenic properties to actually helping regain brain function for people with Alzheimer disease. to mention just two!
Its a plant folks! used in its natural state! and our bodies are designed to use it!
its called the Endocannabinoid system and Hemp is the only plant that produces the chemical naturally!

Get it?? its a natural herb and our bodies is designed to use it.... why the hell is it illegal??

Thanks to all who took their time to sign the petition!

Weed and me being almost 62. I smoked '60's weed. I understood that. It was a mild high. Hell, a lid was $10. I also understood that it was not a big deal perception-wise. I knew all about the different grades. I understand that weed can help as a medicinal (sp). There is one thing that you should know now.. Today's weed is multitimes stronger. Do I advocate? Nope. You think I am silly with a bwlly full of beer? You never been around me with a few puffs.

    Okay Fett,
I'm not asking anyone to be an advocate for medical marijuana , but when given the FACTS that 85,000 people die each year from alcohol, not counting the incidents that involve alcohol like the ,26,000 that die in car crashes and
29,000 people that die from firearms. how many of these are alcohol related?
I'm just asking people to ask the feds to stop wasting tax payers money on legal businesses
that are all approved by the states they operate in!
right now I believe its 16 states that have approved its use. now according to our Constitution..
Remember that thing? Yeah the thing Bush said is just a piece of paper.
well it give States the authority to make laws that dont directly conflict with federal law. so why do they keep wasting money violating our rights???
    heres another good one...
please explain to me how Washington D.C. has approved of the use of Medical marijuana and there are no state laws there!
Its a federal district not a state!! not to mention My shop is a mutual benefit Not for profit the only way my state allows us to operate, but in D.C. where there are no state laws, Only federal. they are allowed to operate as for profit businesses!!
WTF??? I cant be the only one who thinks this is BULLSHIT!!!

the weed wont mess up your liver either Fett!

The war on drugs is a failure, all around the world. The most senior police official in Australia said as much a few months ago - did parliament listen? Nope, business as usual.

Your problem in the US is out of control - since they ramped up 'the war' in the early 90's, 80% of the arrests were for Marijuana related offences. And it's had a bit of an effect on prison population:

and most of those people in jail are NON violent "offenders" who's only crime was possesion of a plant!
I know I have a personal interest in this issue but, its just a small glimpse into how far removed from the original ideas our founding fathers had for this country!

the problems this one plant can solve are enormous,
but since its such a threat to big oil, big pharma, alcohol etc.
it doesnt stand a chance because thats who runs our country!

The problem with the prison system is that it's all privatized now and owned by big business. All the big corporations and investment firms who own the prisons line the politicians pockets and make big campaign contributions. They WANT those people who get caught with a bag to go to prison. They lobby for the harshest and longest sentences so the tax payers will keep the money rolling in. If cannabis was legal, they're be quite a bit of vacancy in all the prisons.

Another reason there is a good chance the war will drag on is that the pharma companies can't patent and effectively own or market cannabis so they DON'T want it legal or they'd probably end up selling less opiates and pain killers down the road. And that makes up more than half of their income as well as large amounts of tax revenue.

While I agree and support the initiative webbhead, I'm also going to be cynical and say that the feds don't give a fuck and they'll do what they want to do. They make quite a bit of money from raiding dispensaries.

You are correct about it just being a plant. So are opium poppies. Opiates have established medical uses that are accepted. It also has been abused since day 1. Our legal system has tried to deal with that and has failed. It's only been about 30 years where there has been research done on the medicinal use of pot. I think there is a valid use. Some states see that and the Feds don't. The Fed's and the states are dealing with meth and crack and all the other not-so-medicinal drugs. They have their hands full. The prisons are full of them. You are right there. It is up to you to make damn sure that your clients are there for the right reason. Only then will you have the ability to convince the Feds to leave you alone.

you can thank Nixon for the Controlled Substance Act from 1970
