got a dimarzio tonezone in mine
I put a duncan design hb103 distortion pup in my focus 3000, improvement over stock at least. Not 100% happy just yet. Guitar is heavey, alder or basswood? Just wondering what you bros are using in your 3000's.

The Duncan Designed is not much better then the stock foci pup. The duncan designed is only produced for Guitar Center as a cheaper alternative to the more spendy SD's.
Anything SD or Dimarzio will greatly improve the sound. Don't forget to take into consideration tonal loss on a strat type body though.
Tone Zone in my Focus 6000, alder bodied. with the low E side lowered with the coil screws under the E, A, D strings raised up a bit.
- Kramer Focus 6000 "Treasure Map"
- Kramer Focus 2000 "Ruby"- EVH Frankenstein replica- Fender MIM Standard strat
- Epiphone Les Paul Custom
If it's heavy it's unlikely basswood. If it's maple i'd use a custom custom, or screamin demon... if it's alder or poplar I'd go with most any other duncan, dimarzio or special pickup of your choice. I think the wood type can be critical in your pickup choice though.
I put a PAF Pro in my F-3000, and I really like it. It's not as high output as the JB, but you get a bit more clarity for that trade off, I think.

The JB and Duncan Custom can sound about the same on some guitars.

I'm with David on the "Fred" in a F3K
I put one in my Pacer Deluxe and love it in that guitar. It's hot enough to push the front of an amp a bit but still maintains good clarity and dynamics.
I also had a Fred in a maple Imperial for a minute but it didn't work as well in that guitar. The bottom end lacked definition. I ended up with a set of Schallers in that one...

jb rocks and very versatile. cleans up well with volume
I never thought of this but most always I see 250k pots in HSS guitars. This is gonna make a difference too.

My GLOBE pacer, which is basically an early focus 3000, is light weight and has a DM DP159 evolution bridge that matches perfectly with the stock single pups.
Sounds really killer
