I understand what you are sayin but......
there is no denying how awesome Alex's 2012 touring kit is....

Don't misunderstand me. I'm glad that anyone who sees this tour is/was happy with the show.
But to me, these are these visions of what should never have been.
Some things should be left to a great memory.
Not to mention the original bass player.
...Only my opinion, of course.

I went, great show. Might go again now that they are coming back through town, gonna see what the secondary ticket market does though, not going face again.
Thought about going cuz I do like VH but this line up turns me off and I don't care for the album.
Then I started looking at ticket prices for shows in my area and I.
Now if Michael was still in the band I might have laid out the coin, probably not as Dave's vocals just aren't there any more and for that kinda cash I expect better.
Gotta be honest, I've listened to ADKOT about 5 times now and I don't care for it. I never thought I'd say that about a VH album (pardon the old timer speak) not considering the Garry Cherone album cuz that was a failure too, although Ed's guitar parts werent' that bad on it.
I've been to every tour show for every album from VH2 thru Balance, sadly this tradition will not continue for me.
The only thing that would bring me is that Eddie appears to be on fire these days, healthy and smiling and ripping it up. That's about it. Wolfie is doing well but MA is the one who belongs there.
Good KF deals: SamanthaM, velocity, Full Crib, skydive69, helocene, aywilson, mrwhipper, Vengeance, Robert Blake, FOR_THE_LOVE_OF_JEMS, Rick S, dan_vito, kickaxeguitars, flyingvfreak, geetar10, redrocker67, Del Hudson, gstring85, movnmik
They were great....
Prolly going again![]()
I missed them this time around, kind of wanted to go but just didn’t happen. Watching the youtube live stuff from this tour, my opinion is that Dave sounds better. I saw them in 1983 and Dave sucked a$$, he was drunk and Im just not into the whole flag corps thing he did for like a half hour.
I will go if they come back around to hear Ed, Dave is looking a little cheesy though lol….he needs a hand held mic.![]()
I saw them a couple of Hagar times out. Brilliant! Was able to catch the Indy show when they opened the first reunion tour with Dave. It was surreal, but not exactly the same vibe as with Sammy.
Don't laugh, but I was affected by Eddie's divorce with Valerie. Just kinda never recovered. It should have absolutely no effect on me....but it did.
7 out of 5 statisticians suffer from lesdyxia.

I saw them back in the day a few times, last time was in 84 and DLR just talked throughout the whole show. Never saw them with Sammy unfortunately. If my son wants to see them I may go in July, If not I probably won't bother, not a big DLR fan...

Thing is, this is a day of many bands not touring all original line ups. Plus, the voice is one instrument that really suffers from age - Unless your Ronnie James Dio - Dave is doing pretty good for his age. It's not like he was ever a skilled vocalist, he is a front man for a rock band.
The ticket prices are high, but it is Eddie Van Halen playing, looking, gelling very well... So that's worth something.
Video looks like a Van Halen show... What's wrong?
Ward, I think you were a little hard on the Beaver last night!
Trust me. I understand how it used to be with VH. I missed many chances seeing them in their heyday. I was not a big VH fan at the time so I had no interest seeing them in concert. I learned to love them based on their LPs. When two tickets fell into my lap, below cost, I couldn't resist. I loved the concert. I doubt they will do this again. I hope they do. About the Anthony issue. As far as I was concerned, he was just the bass player. I just knew there had to be more. Again, I am not a rabid VH fan so I'm going to guess you guys miss his voice. The way I look at it, 3 out 4 original members is about as close as it gets. Anyway, if you get a chance to see VH while their are still alive and kicking, do it.![]()

im probably the biggest VH fan around, and i get the MA thing. but..... this kid is good. lets face it, this is probably ed's last tour. this kid is going to carry on the music that ed has given us over the years. and for the record, this is the best the "band" has sounded musically, live, in almost 20 years![]()
We all remember when we saw great bands in the day. You have to treasure that. Young and full of come was the only way it was. To look back and remember what they used to be and decide that there is no way I would see them now is a lost opportunity.![]()

I have stayed out of this one until now. I love VH as I have seen them I don't know how many times (maybe 8 or 10 times?)
They are coming appox. 10 to 15 minutes from where I live. But I am NOT going to pay good money to hear a band where the "front man/guy" can't sing. Sorry JMO and only that.
Ed may be back and that is cool, and I am glad he is "back" if you guys want to call it that? (AGAIN JMO and to be taken as such)
But a band without a "good singer" is just another band IMO. IE: I have been in I don't know how many bands but out lead singer just didn't "cut it".
Those bands I quit as I knew we sucked only because we couldn't find a good singer. Yes I know about "background vocals," and for the most part we (as a band) had that covered. (Yes I can sing background but not much lead vocals) but again, no front guy it just makes the WHOLE band sound like shit IMHO.
I seen VH way back when their first album(s) came out and also with Sammy many times.
Sammy and M Anthony where the shit in my book. vocals like that are IMO what makes a "good band over a OK band"
JMO once more and to be taken as such on the whole VH "theme" (as per this thread)
So bottom line.
No strong lead and or weak background vocals. just a "basic band" in my book.
Sorry if any of you areat my opinion, but that is what it is. JMO and that is all.

" You Only Live Once, so go for it " come on down to Soutpark and join some friends of mine..!!
dave could never singit was about the show. but, it was a different beast with sam. and one i enjoyed

ultimately it comes down to a 57 year old guitar hero, who finally cleaned up and is playing again because of his kid. who i might add, is a bad ass. thats what we need to celebrate. who wouldnt want to play and make music with their kid? you dont have to like the new album, but you have to respect the situation. because without him, evh would probably be dead or living as a hermit
if u don't want to pay full retail, just watch the ticket brokers a few days before the show ! the tickets i bought for $76 were being sold for $29 2 days before the event !. Scalpers out side were selling $150 floor seats for $70
at least thats how it worked here in Vancouver![]()
what do you mean I'm an Alcoholic..... I haven't had a drink since breakfast !
Me and my 13 yo son are going on the 19th. Can't wait! Eddie will sound awesome as will Alex and Wolfgang. If DLR isn't singing all that great, big fucking deal. I really dig this line up. Wolfie sounds incredible on the new cd. He picked out all of those old tunes on that cd. That's really cool. Yeah, MA isn't there. Big deal. Talk about beating a dead horse. Who lives a static life? If you do, I'm sorry for your short comings. Anyway, I'm excited to see them. Could be the last time as Eddie has cancer again. The best part is that my boy will be there with me.![]()
