Sounds really good(I've always liked active pickups) and there's a good range of options with the pickup switching, so you can get allot from it.
Though having said that, now I've played it for a while, I wouldn't mind getting some more treble out of the humbucker. So may attack the wiring futher on down the road, but for now I'm happy
Edit: I will get a video up at some point of it. But so far every time I get the camera on the tri-pod, something comes up and I get distracted!

Yeah a video would be cool.
I keep meaning to do a video but same here everytime something gets in the way. One of the other UK members asked me do a clip of my apps tone got camera but flat battery and charger is nowhere in sight.
That SM-1 is a nice looking guitar they did a good job on these I think.
Over 1400 postscan I be a Kommander now please?

Well guys, my chance to sit down and do a proper video has yet to come up. But I did get a few minutes during a rehearsal today(ah, the wonders of not smoking) to have a play with it cranked up through my ENGL Screamer
I warn you now though, there is some rough playing in it! Still getting used to the wide fretboard lol

That was sweet dude!! Your great!!![]()
That sounds great! I'm pretty sold on the SM-1s now. And great playing! What do you think about the Engl head? I've been thinking about getting a cheaper Engl to replace my Marshall, but I just haven't heard to much about the Screamer or the Thunder.

87-88 Ibanez 540s
88 Gibson V90 (Only the nut is original)
The Blindworm "Pendulum"
Not too many guitars anymore!
Very nice playing. Great tone. THANKS for the video. No need to apologize for any small flubs. I could practice for a very, very long time and never touch what you just did in that video. Terrific stuff.
How wide is the neck, btw? Is it an R5? Why did I think it was an R2? Not sure where I got that in my head?
On a final note, what effects were you running? Sounds like some typical '80s chorus and delay. Loved it. Sounded fantastic.
Thanks again, Xander.

Congrats on your new SM-1!!
What's the name of your band? Also, what is that guitar off to the right of the set?
Looks like I have some catching up to do
Dodkrone - I love the ENGL Screamer 50 head. I spent ages trying out all sorts of valve amps to end my solid-state days. The ENGL won hands down. You can get a great crunchy/sticky tone out of it, which is what I try to get with my main band. Had it for a about 3 1/2 years now, and it's been pretty reliable, except for the reverb unit dying at one point. So yeah, like it
Holzar & Pro-ace - I'm afraid I am but a humble newbie here... What exactly is an R2 and an R5? But it measures up at about 1 5/8'' at the nut, and 2 1/8'' at the 12th fret. Which makes it about the widest neck I've played(except maybe PRS's).
Also Holzar, you're spot on. Got a Boss Chorus in the mix, as well as reverb from the amp head. Then lower in the mix is a bright reverb, coming from a Hall Of Fame pedal.
KenHeartsKramer - That band is called Bandwidth, it's a sort of rock&roll/bluesy band I play rhythm for. The guitar to the right was built by our lead guitarist. It's a composite body, single humbucker with a coil splitter
Did I miss anything? Oh, I also have some better pictures of the SM-1 now!
Only had this guitar for a few days and I already have dozens of photos of it!
Here are some less grainy pics, now that the sun has come out for a while.

Thanks for the update, Xander.
The 1 5/8 nut is an R2, for the record.
Keep on rockin', man!

Xander you're an ace of the camera?
The Floyd nuts comes in different width:
R1: 40mm, thought for the Flying Vs of the 70s with thin necks, very rare, used on Pro-aces and Nightswans.
R2: traditional 42 mm Fender neck, the most common measure.
R3 and R4: 43 mm nuts with different spacing for bound and unbound fingerboards, my Soloist has an R3.
R5: 45 mm wide nut, used on some Barettas and on George Lynch guitars.
Guitars:
1) '92 Fender Strat, scalloped neck
2) '97 Gibson Les Paul Classic
3) '97 Jackson RR1, pile o'skulls
4) '90 Jackson Soloist Professional
5) '03 Burns Brian May signature black beauty

Cheers for the info guysBased off of that, I wish the SM-1 was an R1 neck. But I'm getting used to the R2

Yeah, I also prefer the R-1, but today is virtually impossible to get a guitar with a neck that narrow... :(
BTW, after reading this thread I started to study "a shot in the dark", and I'm quite surprised to see it's so tricky, not an easy piece at all.
I already knew Jake was good, but not so good...

Yeah, I spent a long period hooked on Jake E Lee's playing. He's really is a great guitarist! It's just a shame he's not touring with any big acts at the moment. I'd pay good money to see him in G3 or something
But if you watch him play Bark At The Moon live with Ozzy, he does some stretching in the outro solo that leaves me gob-smacked!

Well I'm just glad I can share my GAS with everyone else
And since I'm never fully happy with my videos of Bach stuff, here is one that's better than the one above...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=daYa6wHnJNw
(give it a month and I'll hate this one too, and replace it)
I picked it up from a few tabs. The best one was probably from the Tabpro app I have on my mobile. And the start of the tapping section is from a Paul Gilbert video I stumbled across on youtube... I'll see if I can find a link.
Alen, for the tapping part check out this video...

And as I said earlier in the thread, I do enjoy photographing my guitars. Took some good ones the other day. Rather than overload this thread with pictures, here's a link to the photobucket album...
