    Default Score of the week?

So funny moment of yesterday....Me and Dave (KramerPacer) were on the phone bitching about Guitar Center and their jacked up process of selling these days where they don't deal like they used to. Low and behold, I hang up the phone with him, go in and find an RG with maple board. Marked $99, I couldn't believe it. It even has the newer Edge "cheaper" trem on it, so I couldn't believe the price. I swooped in and bought that bastard faster than Speedy Gonzalez (thats an old, funny cartoon for the younger folks on the forum).

I think it was marked low because the neck appeared to be cracked at the nut/headstock, but it was only a finish crack.

Anyway, I bought it to cannibalize the neck and parts for my Swirl that I nearly sold last week. I'm glad I didn't sell after all. I already had a rosewood inlay Ibby neck, but the maple on the Swirl, dammmmmnnnnn.

Congrats to the good score. That swirl is sick, bro, looks awesome and the neck suits it pretty good

If bitching and whining brings great deals such as this then I think I should do it more often!

Ditto on both accounts. There's nothing like being in the right place at the right time, but to quote another cliche--chance really does favor the prepared mind.

Great score, Mike! Can't wait to see your completed project.

Hey Mike, I'm doing an Ibby Swirl project myself. Found an RG450 mapleboard neck with dot inlays. I put the 3 color pyramid inlay stickers on them. I still have to clear coat the paintjob before I assemble it completely.

    WOW! Take a look!

Love to do up an ibanez swirl.

Those older ibanez rg's are awesome guitars.

I got an 89 rg550 and a 91 rg770dx in laser blue. The neck on the 770 is heavenly. The bare maple back of the neck glides like butter.

I saw your 770 lurking back there....

i wish i had the coin for one, but i've mutted/worked my 560 so far that it's only really missing the inlay work and the super wizard from being a 760... unless the 560 bodies weren't as good.

It started as a black '90, with a trashed body. so i bought a "blue" 87 body that's faded out to silver and did the all electric blue dimarzio treatment to it, new paul gilbert injectors, neck in the neck bridge in the middle and an f spaced tone zone in the bridge...

it's the one the luthier named "The Beast"

I'm actually considering not clearing mine. I don't have the time to do it, and really I think the texture is kind of cool. Do you know if that oil based paint chips off easily? I'm not really worried too much about it, it'll probably be a home player special or something.

Man I love yours, great inlay stickers!!

Thanks, I'm lovin' how this one is turning out. Your swirl Ibby not bad either.

The swirl paint on this one is so thin I just want to protect the finish and not wear off with normal playing use.

Mike I was going to swirl my sons Ibby last year but got scared bc everywhere I checked they said its tricky.

Did you have to practice your technique a lot or is it really easy?

    Thanks for the bother
