i was interupted at the end there but i dont really know whats going on in that fill anyway so it works outi usually just play a random tapping run back into the main riff.

that is an extremely correct answer. the first tapped part i hammered on one fret too high and the ascending arpeggio part was sloppy at best but i got the song across at least right? im glad someone guessed it cause thats one of my favorite racer x songs

well here it is, its pretty close but i wasnt gonna spend all night on it, i love paul's playing, more than anyones actually, but trying to recreate guitar solos is frustrating, especially his and dont ask me to do the main solo, its not gonna happen

Close enough....I couldn't see,obviously what you played but I think he just rips up an e flat Locrian scale to start it off and then descends six notes of the e Ionian...cool thing about Gilbert is that he pretty much plays right out of the modes and then plays a lot of octave patterns for most everything else. He has been high on my list of guitar idols for a long time. A good friend of mine attended GIT while he was teaching there so when he came home we learned how he was really playing everything....lol. That was long before YouTube existed...so you were on your own figuring it all out.
