Default Fretless Duke - Unlined With Dots

I just snagged a fretless Duke unlined with dots from eBay. Hope I didn't snipe anybody here. Anybody seen a Kramer FB like that? I have seen plenty of lined with dots, and unlined bare nekkid. Dates to 1983-4. Here are a couple crappy eBay pics. I will post better ones when it comes.

Nice. I have an A plate Duke too, but lined fretless. The unlined with dots just seems like an odd spec to me. I wonder if they were planning to line it, but quitting time came that day and they threw the neck into the "finished" bin.

    Here's my A.

Ahh, I just had a thought.

If Kramer fretless lines do not involve pre-grooving, an owner may have deleted the lines with a strong solvent. Maybe I will learn more when the brown truck arrives.

An update: I returned that white Duke to the eBay seller.

The bass itself seemed to be in good shape, but the seller and ad were turds. Promised new set of strings in the ad, then fed me , then stopped talking. The case had a nasty mildew stench too.

I am posting not to cry, but in case he puts it on eBay again, you'll know what to expect.

Upon close exam, I didn't see any sign of removed fretlines, so perhaps Kramer did put out a few unlined fretboards with dots.

I would have had it cleaned & febreazed it good..

Hah, if I was gonna keep the bass, I would have sprayed the stinky case with 50% bleach and baked it over the furnace pipe for 3 months. The dishonesty thing turned that purchase though.

I took me a couple years of watching the eBay before I found a case for my Duke - and it wasn't in the cheap category either.

Yeah I wouldn't have wanted a molded up stinkin piece of rubbish when your payin plus even to ship the stinking thing..
I've seen cases & guys want big bucks!!
I need to go look around threw the pile at the local MGR..

Only have $70 in our Duke Bass & Don't wanna spend $125-$150 for a case..
It can live in the Gibson Gig Bag that a Les Paul came in for now..

BTW Those padded gig bags make great rifle cases as they are all but useless for guitar storage..
