Default Kramers it seems are like snowflakes & fingerprints, no two alike.

    Hi,

I bought this guitar from a pawn shop in Brisbane Australia about 7 years ago, it's been sitting around since then without being used. I like the guitar but quickly discovered I'm not keen on fiddling about with Floyd Rose style bridges, this is just personal taste on my part and not a criticism.

After recently deciding to do a little research about the guitar so I could advertise it for sale, I soon discovered the confusion you Kramer enthusiasts are up against

After seeing the huge collection of photo's of various Kramer guitars, I've come to the conclusion that every one that rolled of the production lines around the world, every one was a one of .

The best guess I can come up with for mine is from the information on:

    http://www.vintagekramer.com/baretta1.htm

under the section of 'Kramer Baretta III - 1990-1991'

The body shape, headstock, bridge, tuners, & blank neck-plate seem to make it plausible, but the pickup choices don't.

It says on the site that not much is known about these models so I thought I'd post here to maybe uncover a bit more information about them if mine is one.

    Cheers

Hey, Brisbane, I know that place . Where abouts did you pick it up from, as in, do you remember which store?

I notice a few things: the knobs aren't in a straight line, I'd suggest some were added later. Next, the odd switch layout. Also, a blank neckplate. It also looks like it's been refinished, suggesting extra pickups were added post-factory (not necessarily the Kramer factory). Also, licensed floyd rose, plus Kramer branded pickups.

It could be some sort of fire sale creation, odd that it ended up down here though. I've never seen a kramer in a pawn shop around here, let alone anything weird. If you could take it apart and look in the neck pocket, there might be some writing. Also, inside the cavity covers there may be remainder of the original paint, and if there's wood peeking through, we could determine what it's made of. Also check the heel of the neck, see how many holes it's got in it.

That is NOT a Baretta III; in fact the body style, switches, neckplate, and pickups, are nothing like one. I have no idea what that is...doesn't even look like a Kramer body to me....but it's definitely some sort of Mutt (I love mutts!)

    Default It's a...................

    Really late LK-4!!

Prob had a good few mods though. look at the bottom left one in teal green. http://vintagekramer.com/catalog/Japan1988/3.jpg

Japan only model. Horn scoop is original as all bodies got them post '88 US and Japan a they were all the same body!

FYI Baretta III were the Jolana/Schaller made and look a little different. The give away is the headstock. The Jolana/Schaller ones appear a little stubby and look more like the 100 series the Japanese made ones are slightly elongated and streched out. The Jap made Samboras are a classic example. The US models were slightly different Some Stagemasters had the same stretched out appearance that this head has.

IMO it is PCII body (esp/jolana made - see cavity cover) with neck humbucker modified + electronic modified (add switch) and neck with pointy bound large logo head (without american script) esp/jolana made too.
