Default Gary Kramer Illusionist - Magma

Here's the one I'm reviewing on VK, I'm way late on getting it done, but thought I'd throw up a few pictures of this guitar. Its pure sexy in this color. Hard to believe its made overseas.

Although I'm not fond of 3 pup guitars, that thing looks killer!

I think the Magma is such a killer color, the other two are really nice but that orange pops and you don't see a lot of well done guitars in a similar color.

South Korea. Neck is very similiar to my Cathedral, although they are slightly different. Plays exceptional, these are great guitars.

Hoping to have the review done early next week.

It's sooooo nice. If I had any money I'd buy it just for the color really.

...glad to hear that they aren't coming from north korea

A beautiful creation in a beautiful colour. The "fake pickguard" thing always gets my attention. So unusual.

It's like a candy orange. Makes me want to take a bite out of it

    Looks killer though.

    $799 shipped!

On garykramerguitars.com it says that they have a Floyd Rose original? Is it trully german made... or is it a FRT-1000 like voodoo666 was saying in another post?

I'm pretty sure its the FRT-1000, I'll check the trem cavity when I start digging into the review.

Although, I can say those 1000's are so close to German I can't tell the difference playability wise. I have one of those on my LTD Tiger Lynch, and it sounds and responds nearly indentical to my German OFR's. I'm sure the purists might say without a brass block they can hear differences, but I don't.

    Thanks for checking that out.

Whoever's idea it was for the raised pickguard illusion (was it gary's? or done before) was a genius! It gives the look of a super strat (which we all love), it gives the look of a solid wood body with no pickguard (some people don't like the plastic), and it gives off the look of a hand carved custom shop piece.

It's been a long time since I've seen a production guitar that's made me think... god, what can I sell to buy one of those.

I was impressed by the design the first time i saw it, too. GK is a talented guy and an innovator in the guitar world.
Good deals with: muttznmongrelz (x2), eddiedbone, brokrguy, jumbowolfe (x2), amerturk, Full Crib, smorgdonkey, aceman_831, pointyheadstock, charv712 (x2), Tourpicx, ferengi-bri, SGTCLOUGH, EDDIEVRULZ, DarthPhineas (x2), bacon, mrwhipper, Louthedog, moku, Powerglide350, switchone...

Wow! What a cool looking guitar! I can't wait for your review Mike. $799 shipped seems like a steal to me. To bad the 'Super Pros' won't be able to get over the Korean made aspect or the brass block issue. But hey, they're 'Super Pros'.

Not to knock Gary because he's a great friend, but I think Leo was behind the design on that one. It is very cool and gives an otherwise flat superstrat guitar some character and depth. Yea, looks are secondary to playability, but it does make a difference. I plan on gigging it this weekend to see how it works out live too.

The American Illusionists were awesome too. I just love those USA necks the they used on those custom shop models.

beautiful!!!! i am stealing the headstock shape for a few custom neck builds how does he still do it?? most famous luthiers make some good designs and stick to it. the GKG's are so different.
