C'mon now; we've talked since then; you were in Palm Harbor on a job and I had to GIT back to work. It was left at, if you're in the area, call kenny, and he has a few for you to noodle around with.

Damn, I LOVE that color. That's the one I originally wanted as a teen, and now I have two black and one red. I think I'm destined not to have it. If I could find one with the banana headstock... oh well. Enjoy - they're both sweet.

There's an aftermarket DZ in the 1K. Did they come with the matsumoku's in them? Wondering what's in the 2K?

    Thanks.

They are @ 8k ohm that mimic the Schaller Golden 50's. Better than the flat slug type pups.

I have an identical (color/era) focus 1000, but with a floyd II.... I believe the body is maple(heavy/hard body with light maple looking), but I'm not 100% sure. Fantastic guitars non the less, anyone know what kind of wood they have in theirs? I didn't like the blue/green and painted mine

the focii are pretty much on par with the american series, minus the pickups. Best guitars for the money imo.

I have a feeling that at least some of the '85s may have been maple...the one '85 Focus body I have (came with a full 'nana neck which I put on a lighter '86 body) is definitely heavier than my '86 thin 'nana and pointy 3000 and 1000s, which I'm pretty sure are all alder - my prefered wood.

By the '87 F series, who knows what they were using...my F-3000 is heavy, definitely not alder, but not maple either. For the life of me I can never remember if there was any consensus on what the grain pattern/heavier than alder weight makes it:

It's notably heavier than any of my alder Focii, but lighter than maple (at least lighter than the maple beast that was my '85 Baretta RI, currently in transit to its new Forum Bro happy home).

Anyway, not to derail the thread:

Nice matching 1000/2000 pair! Beware, the desire to find a 3000 to complete the trilogy will soon creep up on you...

I'd kind of like to have a candy blue Focus, but it's a bit light/greenish for my taste...if they were a darker metallic blue like Fender's midnight blue, I'd probably have one already!

The humbucker i pulled out of my '85 focus (though it could be a replacement) is a no name but wires like a gotoh or seymour duncan. Really, it looks like an unlabled gotoh dimarzio super distortion copy(bass plate/wires), but has PAF style pole pieces.

I read that gotoh made pickups for alot of Japanese made guitars in the 70s and 80s and that they were usa designed or something, and that lead to duncan designed I really don't know, but it makes me think. I just threw it back in the guitar tonight, sounded very "80s-like" (moderate output, slightly hollow but nice bell like tones), split nicely.. but i'll give it the true test tomorrow.
