    Kissrocks45, thanks.
ya that one was my second mutt build.
I bought a 5150 neck, pulled a focus all apart that i got in a trade with a bro here.
sanded it all down and painted it. put a nearly new OFR on it , ive changed the pup again since the pic.
Its now got a Dmarzio Super Distortion in it.
Its thanks to this forum that ive learned building them can be as much fun as playing them!

1, How do you know when a guitar needs calibration?
2,Any easy way to adjust the tress rod? have to loosen the strings and the neck huh thats what I was told. Nice axe you have well kept.
nice focus. here are two sites that may answer your question:
    1) adjusting trust rods or this one.
    2) calibration or intonation or this one if you need to see a video .

    hope these help.

No. The previous owner removed the fret markers. He did a decent job of it really...

Good info thanks! wow you could have a high fret or something and it will throw the intonation off. Well I mess up my bridge because my shitty tuner even though it said it was intonated I showed it to the tech and he said the saddles were all in line and thats not the way it should be. So i told him to restring it with 10's this time and do a set up, so Im waiting on it to be done right! Damm floyeds piss me off sometimes. Need a good strobe tuner. Live and learn I guess.

good deal. well, if you have the patience, you could always learn to restring and intonated yourself. the pleasure of doing them yourself (and playing the guitar you've worked on) cannot be put into words

I think you may be talking about a "bright cap". It's a capacitor that is on the volume pot to allow more treble to be heard as the volume is turned down. When the volume knob is turned up to max it does nothing to the sound. So the guitar will sound the same unless you turn the volume knob down some. It is also sometimes called a "treble bleed" mod.

loose?? I lowered the neck pup to almost flush so I get a thicker sound, then adjusted the poles up more so I got it pretty good now. any tricks on pickups? most say just go by ear. I crank the amp up pretty loud then adjust so its not muddy and more clear.

Ha, didn't think anyone would notice.

I've got it hard-mounted to the body. It's an old Custom Custom so it has the long legs. I still needed to modify the cavity a bit but now she's sitting pretty in there.

But actually, just last night I swapped the pickup for a SD Seth Lover. I'm actually surprised with the results. It's a low-mid output pickup but the clarity is phenomenal. It might not be everyones cup o tea, but I have a feeling I'll be keeping it in there for a while.
