I have ran my XT live through a SpiderII, a Crate whatever it is? has 2 12" (through the loop) and a Peavey. To me it sounded about the same through them all? I haven't messed with my XTL much so maybe thats why, I duno?

    yeah that could be why,

i run mine through my peavey valveking using a line selector, that way i get the best of both worlds...i.e I can just play the valveking or bypass the preamp in it and just use my xt live using the poweramp in the vavleking to power it.

They sound entirely different imo, especially because you can call up lots of different amps using the xt live.

and also i wanted to know can u send 2 signals from the pod a clean tone(just the guitar no effects dist etc.) aswell as the full blown distortion with the effects and everything. OR Preferably!!!! Can u make it so that you can get all the guitar with distortion panned hard right and then have the reverb coming out of the left?????

This would be very helpful to know and save a lot of time when i have to mix!!!

This might be the answer .. to one of your questions/problems.. don't know but worth a try I guess..????

Late to the game on this one, but On my HD147, I really can't use any defined patch by someone else because my cabinet colors the sound.

I do know that the Line 6 Smash is always a fun one to start with, then I start messing with Cabinet modeling in order to get more low end (the cabinet modeling for me is almost like extra EQ'ing). The HD is probably more difficult than a POD to get right because with the amp modeling, once you switch to a different model, all the settings behave like the actual amp, ie, the relationships between the bass/treble/presence, how hot each adjustment is, its all controlled by the amp model. I never knew that about Line 6 stuff when I bought my amp.

So, for example, with Rectos in the real world, you don't want to gain them all the way up. On the Line 6, it behaves the same way, you don't want to gain em up.

Eric - noise gate absolutely will mute out your pinch harmonics, when I gig my amp, I have to take the gate off for Eruption or it sounds like ass on dive bomb screams.

Not to change the subject but, a couple weeks ago I bought one of those cheap Pocket POD's and have been impressed. I hated my LIVE XT with a passion. I bought a cheap ART Tube MP with a 12AX7 to add a little warmth (it's also a tube DI box if you need it to be) and use my Hendrix wah pedal up front for volume/wah. Impressive through a PA. Cheap bang for the buck and tube warmth. I'm actually thinking about having two of those ART's, one in front to drive the POD because it really pushes the input and one in back for the DI.

If somebody wants to give me a rundown on how to send presets, I have quite a few good ones that other people may like...
Pretty much anything from Queensryche, U2 type clean sounds, to Van Halen brown sounds... And a few off the wall sounds... (Audio Slave Like a stone solo)

    Bruce,

    both bud..
Headphones I do get a better sound..( first time I plugged in the headphones it about knocked me down as it was so loud.. lol ) but I really want it for a amp/PA type thing..( run it into my amp and the PA ) why I bought it.. I know it is just a learning curve thing.. but I don't want to waste a lot of time with a learning curve when I could be playing my guitar..!!! lol

so far it sounds kind of " fake " to me..???? esp. on the amps.. ???? what am I doing wrong ..??? or is that how it sounds..?? or maybe I am expecting to much for something that cost $300.00 out the door new..????

I think if a person is good with computers.. then they would have no problem with this unit.. but that is my problem.. I am not good with computers..

    any help would be appreciated..!!!!!!
honest..!!!! then I could post some more music.. newer stuff..!!!! ( after somebody teaches me how to do that.. post stuff from this unit.. )

EDIT: I have got some great tones/sounds from Eric and Kace.. so I know they sound great.. and they do with the headphones.. but as soon as I try it with a amp.. bam.. there goes a great tone/sound.. :(

until I use headphones again with tone/sound..!!!! then it sounds great again.. and not so " fake " sounding either..??????

it has to be something I am doing wrong..!!!!!!!!!!

thanks in advance all for ANY help with this thing..!!!!! ( need to run it thru a JCM-800 )
Joel had a good idea .. I will admit I haven't tried it yet.. just run JCM-800 as amp.. and use Line 6 as effects..!!!! maybe that is the ticket..??!!!????!!!!!

One thing to keep in mind Rex, your presets really have to be programmed at the volume you're going to use them at, just like tube amps. The overall sound/tone is very dependant upon the master volume/volume combo. (at least on my amp)

My presets for the band are completely different than what I use for at home practice, because obviously I play at lower volumes at home. It took alot of monkeying around with mine to get where I wanted it. Thats the benefit of Line 6 stuff, so many options, but you loose simplicity and its more difficult to find exactly what you want when you have 5000 combinations that could work out to 1000 that you love.

That was the big suprise with my Spider III too. It seems like the louder you get it, the more it breathes like a tube amp and the better it sounds.
