I received a call today from Tommy's (TommysGs) wife. Our wonderful friend and comrade Tommy passed away a few months ago. Needless to say this was shocking news. I know a lot of you have been asking about Tommy as I have and I'm just at a loss of words.
When I first joined the forum 6 or 7 years ago, it was Tommy that took me under his wing and helped me beyond words can describe. I ended up buying some parts from him and he sent so many little free extras, I was shocked and thankful. What I learned from Tommy I try to pass on everyday and that is honesty and integrity. Hands down Tommy was a class act and will be greatly missed. The last time we spoke he was devoting his time to his family and his grandson if you guys recall, he posted some fishing pictures.
It is my honor to have known Tommy and I extend my condolences to his wonderful family.
Here's to you brother! :toast :notworthy

Absolutely horrible news...
Tommy was a great guy and I was lucky enough to have had him over to my home a few times. :thumbsup Our conversations were usually about Kramer's :bananahea but he would occasionally break me off a little glimpse into his personal life.
My deepest condolences to his wife & kids.
R.I.P. Tommy! You will be missed brother! :notworthy
P.S. Tim, thanks for the earlier phone call. I think it's somewhat fitting that you heard the news and posted it. Tommy spoke very highly of you and as you know, wanted to accompany me at our next get-together. Unfortunately, we could never get the timing right.

Just going through some old correspondence (as I never throw anything away) and in my opinion, one of his last PM's to me says a lot about Tommy. In particular, look at his second paragraph. It was sent a few months before he passed.
Hey Dave,
I totally spaced on those single coils. Still available?
Been really busy. Not a bad thing other than it makes time fly by faster than I want it to.
Having fun along the way. Enjoying life.
No hard feelings if there gone. Sorry for not being more punctual.

Met up with Tim lately?

oh my... that's too sad... a few months ago i felt something when tommy came into my mind and i realized he hasn't posted in about a year so i started a thread asking where he was. i remember a few of us also thought about him at the same time: david, tim, etc. i can't believe he's passed on...
he always had wise words to say about thing. a few years ago when i was starting to buying up kramer like a mad man i would always remember his words of wisdom: "be patient and wait. sooner or later a good deal will come up."
rest in peace tommy... you are missed by all of us. our mortality takes away another member... in time each of us will be no more.
admins, george, andy, can we devote a place on the forum for long time contributing kramer members who have passed on? it would be a place for ppl like shane and tommy. a place for future members to know those before them who have paved the way. what do you think?

I´d second that. This is one of the things which make this place an island in the very rough www-ocean. The caring, too, for me is - besides all other things around here - a class act done every day by very classy people. Thank you for letting me being part of this, bros!

I see so many nice comments from around the world. Tommy's wife said that she will log on when I asked her permission to post the sad news on the forum. It brings comfort knowing that so many people where touched by Tommy and he left a lasting positive impression on us all. I'm sure his family will appreciate reading our thoughts and fond memories of him.
Ironically, Tommy's last post was in Shane's thread. May they both rest in peace. :notworthy

I'm stunned speechless. I was looking up the page he made about one of his projects yesterday and looking for advise. He was one of those people who was always there and ready to help or just talk and thought nothing of giving up his time for others. What a great guy. It's times like this when you really stop and think about all the people who have touched our lives no matter how much.
Appreciate those around you and see if you can help them in return.
God bless you Tommy RIP

Sad sad news. Tommy was the first to welcome me on the EZ forum about 9 or 10 years ago. We kind of hit it off and talked over the years, guitars, amps, cars, work and family. He kind of tappered off posting regular after buying the new house for his wife. He always mentioned in some way the love he had for her and his family.
Tommy was a student of all things Kramer. He knew things about Kramers that were not known. He was partial to the FRS, or at least last time I talked with him. His favorite guitar though was the Gibson "THE SG" walnut SG his wife gave him. He was partial to Vintage T-Birds and Mitsubishi 3000GTs and the Dodge Stealth versions. Having multiples of each.
I considered him a friend and one of the more level headed people on the forum.
Thoughts and Prayers to his wife and family.

I got the email from Tim a couple of days ago concerning Tommy's passing. It literally shook me to my soul. I haven't been able to bring myself to come here and read all of the posts for him and leave this one. I not only didn't want to believe it was real, I had to digest it. I haven't been here much the last few years as my life has greatly changed and I've had other unexpected losses, things not important right now. Tommy brought me onto this board that has been so good to me and brought me great joy and a passion I didn't know I had. Tommy sold me my first American Kramer guitar. Tommy had me to his house on multiple occasions and shared his amazing guitar collection with me, traded parts with me, and just sat and talked with me about Kramers and life in general. I considered it a great privilege that he let me in to his private world and shared a collection with me not many have ever seen. We met for coffee the first time I met him and he talked about just getting his "Kramer Kommander" badge here,( This was quite some time ago obviously, I was still a newbie at the time, he had to "check me out" to make sure I wasn't some weirdo before letting me come to his home lol)) he was proud of it, it was obvious, and we just talked. We were friends. I hadn't talked to Tommy in person for a couple of years. The last was by email maybe a year ago. He then wrote me about 6 or so months ago to say hi and I let it slip as I've tended to do the last year or so with everyone. I wish I knew he was sick..... I wish I had talked to him one last time.... I wish I could have said goodbye, most of all I wish I could have thanked him for just being my friend. He didn't have to but he brought me into his private life. I've been thinking about him since Tim so thoughtfully sent out his email concerning this (thank you Tim, I'm so thankful you did). I know he had, as well myself, not been visiting the Forum like we used to but that's all I knew. Tommy you were my friend. You were incredibly intelligent, generous and you made an impact on my life and you created a monster in me concerning Kramer guitars, I'm greatful for that. I'm so sorry I didn't know sooner and I'm so sorry I didn't answer that last email. I'll never forgive myself, I thought we had time. I thought at some point we might both return to the Forum we both loved but life just got in the way.. Goodbye friend, I won't forget you. I mean it when I say the world is far less without you in it. Tom
tried to search for old threads from tommy, hoping to find a picture of him. i remember there was one with him and his grandson in a boat fishing. but i couldn't find it. tim, or anyone else, wanna give it a shot at finding it? would be nice to have a few photos of tommy here... (there's a lot of nice photos in shane's thread already)

I would like to thank all of you for the kind words about my brother Tom.( You guys know him as TommyG ) He truly was a good guy with a big heart.
I'm his little brother and miss him a lot. I lost more then my older brother. He was more for a father figure through my younger years and later in life a real good friend.
I'm very proud to have him as a brother. He has taught me so much though the years.
Tom was 6 years older then me. He tried to teach me how to play guitar when I was in middle school. I got bored and told him that I really did not want to play. Carol still has that old guitar.
Now its one of the best guitars in his collection. It really is not worth much but the sentimental factor is priceless. I start playing when I went into high-school.
I was so proud to show my brother that I could play. We started play music together and formed a band. We had a lot of fun playing at party's through the years. Tom was very good at teaching music.
I my self was not so good. I would just want to grip it and rip it. Tom would get so mad at me.. I have to laugh now.
Tom drove me to the music store when I bought the first Kramer guitar. (1980) It was thew first Kramer in the family. I would thread on that guitar. I got real good with the trem-bar. Lots and Lots of fun.
Every time I would go to his house he would show me a new guitar that he just bought. After a while he stopped showing me. I later went to his house and asked if he bought any more.to my surprise he never stopped. I could not be leave how many he bought.
Thanks again to all that enjoyed and shared with my broth and his passion.

Welcome to the Forum Tim. We share the same name. :)
Tommy was a fantastic guy and loved by all on the forum. He was very wise and never had a bad thing to say about anyone. He was respected by all and I'm proud to have called him a friend.
If you go to this section, http://www.kramerforum.com/forum/member.php?30-TommysGs you can find all the posts and threads started by Tommy. With nearly 6000 posts, you will be able to see his influence on the forum and his knowledge of guitars.
Maybe sometime we can sit down at Starbucks and talk sometime. I'm in Portland and I'm due for a trip up north.

Hey Tim welcome.. I live in the area and hung out with your brother a few times. I loved talking to him and he loved showing me his massive collection of guitars. He sold me my first "American" series Kramer. Him and I did a lot of parts trading. He also sold me a Strat. He was a good guy... We spent about 2 hours talking guitars at a coffee shop on our first meeting. I was always amazed how well he played with his damaged fingers. He was a good friend. I miss him. Keep those guitars polished up for him! They were his passion. He was showing me his cars once when I brought my new Corvette over and said that since he was getting too old to do cars anymore he moved over to building guitars. He always had a project going..
