I paid $2.65 a gallon for "Regular" (what ever that's supposed to be) to fill up today...in New Jersey...one of the lowest States in the Nortrheast...it's getting less expensive to be unemployed :D

I paid 2.87 here in Lake Villa, IL. I couldn't afford to fill it up. 33 dollars gave me just barely 3/4 of a tank in my modified Jeep Cherokee. This is getting ridiculous. We need to do something to let the government know that we are sick of this shit. I swear to God I'm gonna start stealing gas. :-x

Contrary to popular belief the government has very little to do or can do about the price of gas except to impose taxes on it. The government makes more money on gas taxes than the oil companies do in profits.
The biggest problem is there hasn't been any new refineries built since the 70's and demand has out grown capabilities. Environmentalist have tied up any new production facilities in court to the point nobody can afford the litigation so they have stopped bothering to try.

But then again it's all George Bush's and his oil buddies fault right. Texas oil companies represent a single didget percentage of the US oil market.

I find it frustrating that the same people that are pointing false blame are the very people that are the biggest cause of the problem.

The last time I went camping for a solid week, we paid more for gas on the trip than we paid for the camp site. That's sad. :eviltongu

This morning, I filled the tank on my Nissan Sentra and it went over $24.00. When I first bought that car a few years ago, I couldn't squeeze $15.00 into it.

He's right you know Europe is screwed with fuel prices, in the UK around 76% of the 95.9p we pay PER LITRE goes to the goverment, that makes it £3.62 a gallon, thats about $6.52 a gallon :evil

MIGHT MAKE US FEEL BETTER!!

Compared with Gasoline

Think a gallon of gas is expensive?

This makes one think, and also puts things in perspective.

Diet Snapple 16 oz $1.29 ........ $10.32 per gallon

Lipton Ice Tea 16 oz $1.19 ...........$9.52 per gallon

Gatorade 20 oz $1.59 ... $10.17 per gallon

Ocean Spray 16 oz $1.25 . $10.00 per gallon

Brake Fluid 12 oz $3.15 . $33.60 per gallon

Vick's Nyquil 6 oz $8.35 .... $178.13 per gallon

Pepto Bismol 4 oz $3.85 ..... $123.20 per gallon

Whiteout 7 oz $1.39 ......... .. $25.42 per gallon

Scope 1.5 oz $0.99 .......$84.48 per gallon

And this is the REAL KICKER...

Evian water 9 oz $1.49..$21.19 per gallon?! $21.19 for WATER - and the buyers don't even know the source. (Evian spelled backwards is Naive.)

So, the next time you're at the pump, be glad your car doesn't run on water, Scope, or Whiteout, or God forbid Pepto Bismal or Nyquil.

Just a little humor to help ease the pain of your next trip to the pump...

I paid $10 for gas and got 3.8 gallons!!! Unfortunately my truck's inspection sticker is out and so are the U-joints so I've got it parked at the moment. I'm having to drive my '69 Charger every where I go. It's an R/T big block so you'll understand when I say I average 8 to 10 miles per gallon you'll understand why I'm hurting! Needless to say I'm driving real slow right now. No hot rodding for me!

Yes, these prices are getting insane. Its now up to $3.15 a gallon in the Chicago area and I just read in the newspaper it could get as high as $3.85 per gallon within the next 30 days.

This is the time I wish I bought that Honda Hybrid car. I wonder if they just sold out of them at the dealership.

I've seen that they expecting gas to go over $4.00. Supposedly because of Katrina. Hey, let's screw people out of some more money and blame it on a hurricane.

I have decided NOT to take my yearly Labor Day campout this year. The oil companies raise prices every year around this time and now it's worse in the name of Katrina.

As my personal protest against gas prices, my car and truck will both stay in my driveway from the time I get home from work on Friday till I go back on Tuesday.

If we have to go any place during those 3 days, we'll do it the old fashioned way. Walk and get some excersize. We like to go hiking when we camp any way. It's only a couple miles to the store. I could use a little weight loss from walking.

Screw the oil companies. Stay home for the holiday and visit with your neighbors. Have a block party. :alien

Supposedly there a lot of oil refineries in the area that had to be shutdown because of Katrina...gas prices going up is going to be unavoidable...Bush could release some of the pressure by openning the reserve...which is usually kept in large numbers to avoid catastophies such as this...being on the board of several oil companies himself...what decision do ya think he'll make :scratchhe

I filled both my car and truck on Monday... BEFORE this latest gas hike (it was still $2.51 though), but everyone here knew it was coming. With both my vehicles filled as they are, and being that I only live about 5 minutes from work.. I can probably go about two months without having to buy gas..

AND THAT'S EXACTELY WHAT I'M GOING TO DO!!!!

I could go much longer if my lazy ass would buy a bicycle and pedal to work instead of motoring.. Believe me, it's crossed my mind.

F*** the gas companies, and F*** the bastards that price gouge every time someone sneezes in the general direction of an oil rig. This is getting rediculous.. I could go on and on, but it's no use and I don't want to raise my blood pressure any higher than it already has become from this :bs .

Wow, I thought I had it bad driving 30-35 miles one way to work. I was wrong. You're right about the prices. Yesterday I filled up (empty tank, not panic) for 2.49 a gallon. The BP I was in was packed because all the other local gas stations were already raising prices. Now the cheap folks are 2.99 and the average runs 3.09-3.15. Ouch. Glad I drive a tracker!

I heard that it might go as high as $4/gal by the end of September. That is just speculation but what I'm seeing right now and the devastation in Louisiana I would not be surprised at all. This talk in Washington DC about releasing the emergency oil reserves would greatly help but I don't really see how the price of gas would be going down because of it. At least I truly do not thing gas will go down in price under $2/gal as I think those days are over IMO.

TommysGs

Lets just hope it doesn't get as bad as in 1974 when the oil embargo hit. There were gas lines four blocks long and at any time the station attendant could come out and put up the out of gas sign.

You could only buy gas (If you could find it) every other day (odd or even based on the last diget of your license plate)

I don't remember the price impact specifically but people were not at all happy about the situation.

I saw just a screen grab on CNN a little while ago, showing close to $6/gallon somewhere. I didn't see where it was. I know that I talked to my sister yesterday, she lives in Atlanta.. She said, they are rationing gas down there. All the gas stations were closed and they told them they couldn't buy any more gas until Friday.. :-x

Boys, if something isn't done pretty soon... There will be people walking around with targets on their asses..

I know around here, there are enough "good ol' boys" riding around with rifles hangin' in the gunracks that might get a little irate when they find out it's gonna cost $80 to fill up their truck. I can't say as I would blame them.. :thumbsup In my town, there are two families that own all the gas stations in the area.. It's no secret around here that they've been getting together for years to set pricing and as such we've always been about .15 a gallon higher than surrounding areas.. They aren't doing that now, because they know that if they do.. Somebody will literally drag thier asses out into the street and beat them six ways from Sunday... Come to think of it, I haven't seen any of them around town lately..

Wonder why.. :scratchhe

Diesel is about 40E cent less a liter say 2 quarters of a buck.

So for a gallon that would be about 5,12$ a gallon of Diesel...good thing is Diesel has way beter mileage as well..same care let's say 1600CC engine equals 1900CC diesel engine in power/speed (more or less!) 1:13 to 1:19 a km a liter.. I think 31 miles a gallon to 45+ miles a gallon for Diesel.that's almost 50% more miles a gallon, SWEET! :thumbsup

Here in Rockford, IL it was $2.85/gal on Wed and just jumped yesterday (Thurs) up to $3.29/gal and that is for regular gas. Also saw on the news last night that some gas stations are closing due to either being fearful of running out of supply. This is getting worse by the day.

OK i have a 72 Liter tank on my blazer, thats 19.02 Gallons. It just cost me $97.20 CAD to fill it last night, gas was $1.349 a liter. So that $97.20 is about $82.16 USD divide that by the 19.02 gallons that my tank holds and it comes to $4.32 USD A GALLON . Plus i have a friggin hole in my gas tank that i discovered this morning, no wonder my mileage is down. And i heard that gas may go up to $1.50 a liter thats about 4.80 USD a gallon.
Theres some goverment guy up here in canada that was on tv the other night saying that the oil companes are price gouging us , he said that there using the monopoly that they created to charge us what ever they want. my opinon is that even if the government lower the tax on gas the oil industry would just raise the price to make up the difference, oh ya and by the way in canada we're double taxed on gas.

(i think all my conversions are right, if there not let me know.)
