I'm curious what's the largest amount of stomboxes you've seen in a setup. I know most have a few, but I've seen some with 10:) Does it degrade the sound with so many?

I've seen a few with 10 or more :yikes Talk about a tap dance huh :D
If it where me I'd use a buffer so as not to degrade the signal.

Right now I have 8. My reverb and delay sound like crap in front of the amp unless it's a clean tone. I guess I just gotta keep experimenting.

Can FX loops be daisy chained? I would like to have some pedals added between a ADA MP1 Classic and a POD XT Pro, so both units could use the effects?

In real life? The usual, but on the net like youtube? Looks like the guys are operating the space shuttle like here. Talk about overkill :-x

OMG.....That is so over the top stupid...:alien I mean the guys hitting those things like he's playing a piano with his feet. Can you imagine the light show in the dark with that. I'll take a Quadraverb anyday. Sounded like he was going for that church organ effect we all know and love on that clip.

Yea I was thinking that too about all the blinking lights when he's got it all plugged in :D Speaking of that, some pedal lights are freaking bright. My MXR Carbon Copy feels blinding with that blue LED.

I know what you mean on those extra bright blues. I was playing with a guy that had one in his Wah, I was ten feet away that thing was still driving me nuts.

Some just like them...
But in general I guess (just like technique), guitarists go thru cycles starting in their teens with
-As much stompboxes as you can afford
-When finally looking at 6 stompboxes, noise gate/compressor and 3 channel switches trade all in for multiFX
-Find out about those awesome Racks and trade the multiFX in
-Getting older, going mwah, need me some tubes and get rid of most FX
-End up with 1 or 2 stompboxes you learn to appreciate over the years, and have a rack backup :thumbsup :D

:D Thats funny..... Just what I was thinking..:D That's pretty good though, I related to it right till the end as I'm using tubes with few affects but my main rig is rack. Not bad though Pel.......:thumbsup

This guy I used to work with told me he had 150 pedals or something. Not that he said that he used them all together but he was just always going on about his pedal collection. I think he told me that he had 12 going together quite often. He had this crap load of pedals and didn't really have any decent guitars aside from an RG550. I said to him a couple of times...'you need to sell some of those cheapies and get a nice one'.
He said that he had multiples of a bunch of pedals too. Mention a pedal and he'd say something like "yeah they call that the purple behemoth" or something similar. He always had a nickname attached to whatever pedal it was regardless if people actually called the pedal that he had some story to make a legend out of each pedal.
He was a bizarre character...he'd say "I have..." then he'd look sharply to the upper right ONLY moving his eyes as if straining to do the calculation and come up with a number "...4 of those".
Talking of tone one time he said that he was playing once and this guy described his tone as 'painting with sound'.
The strange characters that you can meet in the world.

Hit the ol nail on the head with me as well Pel :D
But mines a tube rack as well with bare bones effects, with a small combo for backup :thumbsup

I swear, it's not as complicated as it looks. There are only a few pedals in the chain. Really:
It's a two amp set-up.
The 'Rapco A/B' chooses between amps (a Marshall JCM800, and a '73 Fender Twin Reverb).
The upper chain (Fender/Clean) Gets 3 pedals: The Keeley compressor, the early Analogman 'Clone-Clone' chorus, and the Boss DM-2analog delay.
The lower chain (Marshall JCM800/Crunch) Gets the Klon Centuar overdrive, the Keeley modded Blues Driver, and the script Phase 90.
All this from a guy that's been diggin on a rack MP-1 rig lately. Go figure...:scratchhe:D :D :D

10 pedals is fine, as long as you avoid having them all in circuit at the same time (face it, are you going to have them all switched on at once?)
You therefore need a switching loop system, and being UK based, I use UK's finest Gigrig Pro14. The way it works is each pedal is linked into 1 of 10 loops, and then the buttons on the Gigrig can select the pedals you want at any one time, bypassing the ones not in use completely. Having it all on a board means I get set up in seconds, only downside is the board weighs 70lbs with the flightcase lid on!

Wow....That's a really nice set-up :thumbsup I've been checking out those neon boards, I like em. If I wasn't using rack based effects that's how I'd go. I like how they are run off a central board.

I'm really happy with the Midimate :thumbsup
Very versatile in the programming. Phantom powered by my Mp1. I run the top 5 buttons setup to turn my effects off/on on the G Major, so pretty much the same as having stomp boxes :)
The bottom 5 do patch changes. But if you push the access button it will change to having all ten buttons do patch changes or push again, and it goes to direct patch access.
For under 2 bills its hard to beat :thumbsup

That's a beautifully clean and organized rig. It's likely worth the 'arm stretching' when you have to carry it.

You better win the lotto..^.. cuz you gonna have to hire a tech to set them all and a couple of people to run around stepping on them :D
Here's what I've been using for a while now...
Pretty simple set-up, straight into the front of my Marshall. I've recently added a BBE Sonic Max pedal.

I was considering a BBE SM pedal for a while. How do you like it? I tried the el cheapo Rockman Nitro Tone Booster pedal, but it just added too much noise...

Yeah but Jake rarely uses them. Probably all freebies from companies wanting to get him using their stuff...

Yeah I agree, I cant see Jake using all those pedals. He wont even use a tremolo because he says its cheating.

My set up is pretty simple....
Boss TU-2 Tuner and daisy chained
Boss Fuzz
Boss Distortion
Boss Metal Zone
Custom Delay unit
Vox Wah
Digitech RP-50
Ok, stop laughing on the RP-50. I have that thing dialed in for 3 settings that I created. One clean...think a sound like "Too Late from Leppard", one dirty...think Ratt, Scorpions, normal 80's sound, and one for Eruption with all the effects...thats it.
Everything goes into either a 50 or 100 watter tube amp(s). I also have a RP-5 multi effects that I can't dial in a good sound so it sits waiting to be traded for something else.
Although all are hooked up, I normally just use the 3 tones from the RP and the wah. I use the other Boss pedals when I'm bored. :)
I was considering a BBE SM pedal for a while. How do you like it? I tried the el cheapo Rockman Nitro Tone Booster pedal, but it just added too much noise...
The BBE is a good pedal...I've had it for a while and I recently put it in the board, however I haven't dialed it in just yet. It's a quiet pedal, no hiss at all.
