Dirty. Like grungy. Think if a homeless guy had an axe, it would probably be as clean as this one is (and would likely explain the totally awesome MASKING TAPE accent stripes!). :funnel

But...I've got a lot of useable parts for a whopping $65 investment. Schaller tuners, electronics (haven't checked out the pickups yet), Floyd with threaded arm, the string bar, and the locking nut. It does have a busted corner, but hey...what do you expect for that price???

I love cruising Pawn Shops!!! :bananahea

Now...it's off to the bathtub for this baby!!!

Enjoy!

Hell yeah, I love cruising pawn shops too! Nice score for $65! Are those sheet rock screws in the neck plate? :D

Believe it or not, they aren't! Up close, they appear to be original, but the chrome on the two closest to the neck is completely gone...

What do you think...try to save 'er, or strip it for parts? I guess I'll plug it in...maybe that will help decide....

Okay...as I've stated probably like everywhere on this Forum...I'm no guitar player by any stretch...but I can tell you...this thing is LOUD! I'm fairly certain that I shot a piece of rust from the strings into my eye...:arrg

Well, that was a great score. I'd save it for sure. If you decide to part it out (never fond of, but if you must) I'll be interested in the body and neck.

Have fun with it, clean it, buff it out, throw down some color on the chip and let it rip.

I've never seen that headstock, it's a perfect cross between beak & claw.

It's my least favorite neck, but it's standard on the early 4000 and 5000 Foci's.

Nah...I won't kill it, I promise. It's just one of those moments where you go "you know, I've got something that needs some parts over here..."

Too many damn projects...and piling on new ones before getting the ones that you already have done...

to quote Social D....Story of My Life!!! :thumbsup

Well, technically, the EARLIEST 4000s had the normal beak headstocks, but they were shortlived. :)

Nice score :thumbsup Pawnshops can be quite the treasure cove at times, especially when you find the ones that they have no clue what they have :)
I'd clean her up, and enjoy her :thumbsup
Didn't realize the headstock came that way...
I thought someone may have :chainsaw pretty cool design :thumbsup

Note to self: Don't balance a can of soda on the guitar while playing...

(And before anyone says anything...those are my wife's bobble heads!!!)

Maybe I should have said most disgusting Kramer ever. This is the scuzz from the fingerboard. UGH!!! :fart

(Notice the fine replacement for one of the bars of the locking nut!)

:yikes :yikes Just from the fingerboard :yikes :yikes Wow... Serious dirt and grunge going on there :)
Looks like your making progress :thumbsup
I like the "nut" for the locking nut :) I suppose though in a pinch it would work :)

Good job man. I've had some nasty ones myself. I've spent 4 hours on an OFR alone, 2 hours on tuners....but heck, that is half the fun. :)

That headstock looks exactly like the old Hondo headstock from the 80's.

That is one hell of a find. That tip sticks out so far. Ive banged mine up too. I sanded it down real good the last paint job I put on it. If youre keeping it I would definately get some new pickups. But other than that just clean and lube her up. Oh yeah and get some fret board conditioner on the fret board. Goo gone works great to get the old stickers off with hurting the paint! Good luck.

The title of this post makes me laugh.

Recently I purchased a Kramer on ebay, and it looked pretty rough, then it showed up.

Everything was completely oxidized, and it looked like someone attacked it with an ice pick (scratches everywhere). If I didn't know any better, I'd say this guitar was stored outside, under a tree or something.

Then when I removed the trem cover, a HUGE fricken spider came running out and tried to run under my bench. You could hear the spider hit the floor when it bailed off my bench...that's how big it was.

Regardless, the spider bit me, and now I'm having funny dreams and webs are shooting from my hands (LOL).

That's an awesome story. You are correct...that point sticks WAY out. Hell...I whacked it on a wall corner when I was playing it last week...no wonder it got broken off! :lol
