DOH! Oops, sorry, meant Bill, not Joel. :)

I remember that was one of the cleanest pieces of lumber I've seen in awhile.

Hey Guys, Great thread, great axes!!!
Here's my project in waiting.

Body and neck are not original to each other. Neck originaly had a standard nut modified for a Floyd nut(not me). Body looks to be originaly a teal blue colour, but I'm thinkin' of goin' with the Lighting Bolt on black scheme. It also has the initials 'CS' in the neck pup route(although hard to see in this pic)
:)

That's going to be a nice project. I absolutely love looking at these projects when they're all stripped down and waiting to be finished.
Are you going to paint it Black with a White or Silver bolt? A hot pink Bolt would look sweet as well.
I hope you make a thread and take lots of pics of this build when you start it.

I don't own any of these any more, but figured you may enjoy seeing them...

A couple of 1981 models....

Two more 1981 models (I had two identical black ones)....

You guys are just sick. Those are some great looking guitars. I still can't believe how nice Mike's looks with maple.

I wish they would bring those back and sell them to nuts like us. I guess it would be a short run of 10 or something... :D

Very cool. I like the newer pointier ones myself.
The older rounder ones a re cool in there own right.
If I had one I would probably like them just as much. I do like the classic necks.

Looks like you have as much a thing for Voyagers as I have for the Floyd Rose Signature models.

In my situation, I lost my job and sold off most of my collection. I actually only have 3 Kramers, now, when I used to keep a rolling inventory of around 50.

It was easy to justify selling them when I paid $150-$200 for all of my Voyagers and I got quite a bit more for them when I sold them. ;)

I hope to find a 1981-84 Voyager Special soon, itīs the only guitar that is missing in my collection...i just love early Voyagers!!!

That's funny.. 'When I start':D I'm little pokey gettin' started with some projects. I always wanna get 'em done asap a play 'em. My lack of patience puts me off. "Oh I'll get to it" sort of thing.
This one's been sittin' on the shelf for a while now.

As for pink? :-| Can't do it:D It'll be a silver bolt for sure. Although I do like all the original designs. I have a hard time makin' up my mind. I've toyed with the idea of silver/gray/white ghost flames on black also, I love flames.

Some great lookin' Stratheads too guys:drool

Hi there. :thumbsup Here's my voyager purchased in '84 (my high school graduation present, actually :D ) I'm rebuilding...

http://photos-h.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-snc1/v1976/47/118/620012245/n620012245_1876919_2398.jpg

...She's got a new, Big-Blocked Black Floyd, and the Duncan Distortion/Jazz combo I'd originally intended to replace the stock Schaller pickups with before cannibalizing her to build a Superstrat in '85-86...and will probably end up going with a neck with an Explorer headstock (painted black with an Ebony fingerboard), as I was never really a fan of the beak.
The original pickups were black (well, that matte-black/gray color Schallers were in the day) but I think the Zebra set gives it a little more visual 'pop', as they say...:bling

Debating re-logo'ing it for fun (still have the original neck plate w/serial)...would never sell her...

Project in the works - I picked up a Voyager Neck (the scalloped one from eBay) and the seller was gracious enough to offer me the Matching Body with Cavity Covers/Original "B" Neck Plate as well so I picked up the "Lightning Bolt" Graphic Body too. I am going to have to snag a Floyd, Schallers, Nut and electronics to get it functional, but, it will be getting a "Slash" Signature in the Neck and either a Gibson Dirty Fingers or SD KB TB-4 Non-Logo in the Bridge...
