Yes guys, I was trying to let it pass a little so i could muster the courage to post about my former best friend Doc.
He was VERY sick for the last 6 moths or so and almost passed back in August where he spent 4 weeks on a ventilator at the hospital.
He died in in his home (albeit VERY suddenly) with his wife present. He was a great friend and would give his left nut if you asked him for it. He was one of the most knowlegable guys on MANY subjects and was always quick witted and humorous.
He is survived by his wife Cindy and a multitude of friends and guitar bros. He will be missed deeply.
Thanks for all the kind words guys.. I thibnk Doc is looking down with a huge smile..:toast

We may have had our differences from time to time, but he had a good heart. One year for Christmas he sent me a care package of 5-6 DVD's and CD's just in repayment for a favor.
I hadn't thought about Doc for awhile, but had a dream Monday night (no bullshit) that we were hanging out in the desert, trading guitar stuff. Call it coincidence or whatever, but I'm pretty sure he was trying to talk to me.
God rest his soul.

Sad news indeed. I remeber well when he was around a lot, all the time even..always lots of words..an EVH reference in his shoes, bike or garagedoor and ending with the unforgettable quote: 'Nuff said!
The 1st year the Expo was on in Nashville, he could barely, but did make it there. Set up my Kramer Focus from unplayable to smooth.
Was great knowing you Doc.
RIP

I sorry to hear we are now one bro down.
I see by everyone's posts that he will be sorely missed.
Can anyone tell me a bit more of the man himself? (If you don't mind me asking.)
He's a lot more than just a nickname and a catchphrase. I just want to put a face to the name.

Doc was quite a guy. I never had the pleasure of meeting him in person, but I talked to him on the phone on several occasions. He was a fountain of information, and his stories were always interesting. He was generous and funny. Wherever you are, Doc, I hope there are Kramers, and someday, we'll all meet in the biggest jam session of them all.

While I was driving today It hit me Doc sold me the factory stereo in my car. I had to smile because when I bought it he gave me shit about getting it so cheap. Just had to share that.........It's nice to see the nice comments left here. Though he was gone awhile he was a brother. Once a Kramer bro, always a Kramer bro. In the scope of things, we are a small group. This brings it into perspective.........

Thinking of Steve "Doc" Dryer.. Doc was one of the original Admins on the KramerForum and I dealt with him a lot from 2002-on. He fell on some hard times both health-wise and financially toward the end of his life. I'll always remember the talkative, generous Doc who would call my cell phone very late into the night, with the last 4 digits of his phone coming in as "5150." I miss him.

I'm sooo late to this, I've been away from this forum a long time.
It's sad to hear about Doc's passing. But also, I'd like to extend my condolences to the friends and family of the other members this forum has lost.
With Doc, I've only spoken ( and man, could he speak) to him a few times on the phone and I still remember his booming baritone. He hooked me up with back-to-back NAMM tickets in '04 and '05. He gladly talked me through the best way to experience that monsterous convention without getting overwhelmed. Those 2 years were pretty much a highlight of my adulthood, so I'll always associate Doc with spinkling a little extra topping on the great roll I was on.
And after the roll ended I felt the need to put away all the things associated with that time and place, and this included my modest Kramer collection and this forum. It was one of those things where one has to really reassess what one is doing with one's life. Its bitter sweet.
Years later and just the other day, I was searching through my big o' boxes of guitar parts and came across my NAMM passes with "Doc's Guitars" proudly displayed. It got a big smile from me. This time it felt a little more sweet than bitter.
RIP Doc, you will be remembered.

Better late than never, right? I've not been on the Forum a whole lot these last few years, but not sure how I missed hearing about this.
I met Doc through ebay back in the late 90's, I think it was. Might have been just before, or around the time, VK or the Forum came on line? My memory is horrible... He would see me bid on something, and I'd get an email to call him. Can't remember everything we sold to each other, but after reading everyones posts, those phone calls are all coming back. Thanks for jogging my memory, and R.I.P. Doc!
