Another E-Bay score.
Added pickup, and switch reposition... but other than that, she looks pretty nice.
What a piece of history!

PacerMedic,
It's an imperial I think... with a middle humbucker added...
He actually moved the bridge (schaller?) pickup up to the new middle position, and added a Carvin humbucker to the bridge, with a coil split option.
I'm tempted to put the Carvin in the middle, and return the bridge Schaller to it's home.
I'm also tempted to fill in the middle position, and refin.
We'll see, once it gets here.
Would be a shame to loose the Cherryburst.

Thanks for the nice comments all!!!

xbolt... yes seed planted... kinda like alien... it's jumping out of my tummy now, and skittering across the floor... with my wife chasing it... trying to beat it to death with a broom!!!

Yep, I was watching that one too. I just couldn't go over $500 with that middle pickup and all the extra holes.

Looks nice otherwise!

nhspike
04-06-2008, 10:22 AM
Ahhhh
So you're the one that pushed it up at the end?
LOL

I always have 51.50 in my Kramer bids, somehow

In this case, it was 551.50

Just so you know how to beat me.

HEHEHE

Think there was someone else as well. This guy pushed it over $500, h***l( 252). My bid isn't even in the bid history.

Anyways, nice guitar!!

Apologies for the language, but...

F#@k Me!! Is that ever nice!:drool

I'm not big on the mods. The middle pup is ok, but not all those switches. But what's done, is done.
I'd leave it as is. Dont mess with that burst. It's killer.

I agree with PacerMedic....BADASS!

it's a beauty, I almost wanted to buy it myself. that neck is NICE....i could never use that damn Rockinger though -- tried to use it live during the early 80s on a Voyager strathead I had for a short time, until I got my pacer imperial with the first floyd rose in Florida.

love that finish too.....fix her up and play her!

It's a great finish, not very common either! :thumbsup

I was more scared off by the Rockinger than by the third pickup honestly. I've had three guitars with that bridge and it's real hard to get the action nice and even.. Hope it works out for you. :thumbsup

While you didn't ask :D my $.02 would be play it as it is! There would be a huge amount of work required to make it a sunburst again, and you'd lose the 27 year old finish vibe. The extra pup and switches have become part of it. I don't know how many of these came out of the Kramer factory, but if you were looking for a collector's piece, I doubt you would have bought such a customized instrument.

warbrill,
Ya, I'm with ya.
I'm a player over here.
Half of what's fun about buying a "player" like this is the fact that I can't really screw it up.
If I want to put a OFR on it, I don't feel like I'm ruining it or anything... hehe
I'll prolly just play it like this, except for that Carvin pickup... I'll give it a listen, but I doubt it will be my cup of tea.
:D

FedEX will be delivering my Strathead tomorrow.

I'm starting to get juiced-up about it (I've not allowed myself up to this point).

Well I'll be a monkey's uncle, FedEX delivered the guitar just now... on a Saturday no less.

Yippie! :headbang

Sounds just great, plays like butter... amazing guitar.
I even like the Carvin pickup in the bridge for some reason.

Very happy!

Rockinger has to go... what a nightmare.

I replaced the string-lock with a Kramer string tree/bar.

A gold floyd will be on the list of things that must happen.

Here are some fresh outdoor pics I just took:

Thanks for the kind words all.
Here's an update:
Last night, I removed the Carvin pickup, and put the bridge Schaller back in it's rightful spot.
I reinstalled the Rockinger string lock (mounted correctly this time, thank's to a previous post) and basically put her back to stock (except for the big hole where the middle pickup was added).
Well, I must say, she sounds just great, and the trem is actually staying in tune.
I cleaned it, and put a couple of drops of my magic reel oil on the pivot pins and string saddles (quantum hotsauce... check your local fishing type store for it... it works great on all trem pivots, etc.).
The center route was burned and ugly, so I hit it with black sharpie and it doesn't look half bad.
And now my pick doesn't bounce of the middle pickup... neato!
