what amps/effects do you use??

I have a Vox Valvetronix halfstack, Johnson Blueline 100 watt and a 10 watt Marshall but I only use the Vox. when we have band practice my friend Matt plugs into the Johnson.

for effects I just use a Dunlop Crybaby wah, Boss MT-2 Metal Zone, and a Seymour Duncan Pickup Booster that I use for my solos.

Currently:

Peavey Valveking 100w Head into a Marshall JCM900 era 4x12 (uncles 4x12). Effects: Dunlop Cry-baby GCB-95

Hopefully this is what my rig should be by the end of the year:

Peavey Valveking 100w Head into a 2x12 cab (maybe 2 2x12 cabs). Dunlop Crybaby GCB-95, LS-2 & Pod XT live.

Live and with the band, Peavey Triple XXX Super40 EFX combo, with built-in multi-FX. The best amp for my needs I ever played.

For recording it's usually my Radial Trimode tube distortion and Korg AX-1000 for delay and chorus, Boss compressor for my bass.

nice line up of pedals Pacer-Deluxe. what would you recomend for a octive type or harmonizeing pedal/...i want to find a pedal that will get a similar sound like what Steve Vai..and Dimebag (and many others im sure) use in thier solos on some tunes. for example the solo in message in blood by pantera if your familar with that.

Hi,
@Warlord
Itīs not a bad Overdrive Pedal, but Iīve changed it into an Ibanez FC-10 FatCat.
It sounds quiet good for Classic-Rock sounds like Zeppelin, Thin Lizzy, ......, but it is very bad for modern HighGain sound.

the cable that connects ya guitar to ya amp

Mac

as far as i knew it was the cable which can vary in length and connects hardware eg guitar to amplifier :D

shorter versions used for connecting pedals are called patch cables or leads are are typically around 3 inches long

As for my setup

I got a pretty simple set up but it works for me and I can get some pretty cool tones from it.
Amp - Fender Champion 600 5 watt tube
Effects - MXR Dyna Comp, MXR Phase 90 w/ R28 mod and an MXR EVH Flanger.
How I ended up with all MXR stuff I dunno to be honest, I'm open to using anything. Just worked out that way I guess. I'm looking for a nice OD pedal and think I found it. Gonna look into the DOD Overdrive Preamp/250 Reissue, its $40 and from the soundclips its very close to what I'm looking for, so gonna give it a shot:thumbsup

Warlord

the MXR EVH Flanger is that white black striped isn't it? I heard it is equal to another flanger of that brand, except for the paint.

Yup, its the same Flanger but with an EVH paintjob and the 'EVH' switch which has a preset to automatically get his Unchained setting, which I found out can be used for other songs as well. They didn't have the regular one in the store, I paid $10 less for it then on Musicians Friend and the EVH switch is awesome actually. I like the setting it gives you, but of course you could just dial it in with the regular one also. Problem is after a week I haven't been able to dial it in so yea good decision getting what I got :D

Nice, I considered the stack option but thought it was a bit overkill just for playing at home :headbang

I like Peavey tube amps. For the money the used ones area great value, built like a tank and sound awesome too:thumbsup

I'm a minimalist when it comes to effects. If I'm using my amps distortion then I use my gt8 in manual with a touch of rev and delay and occaisionally some chorus.

If I'm using it as a modeling platform I use Marshall and Mesa patches with the above mentioned effects:headbang

is it possible to (example) power a Digitech whammy pedal and a GT-8 with the same adapter? Or it spends the same power as having two adapters on?

is it possible to (example) power a Digitech whammy pedal and a GT-8 with the same adapter? Or it spends the same power as having two adapters on?

It is "possible" depending on a few things.

1) The combined current draw of each pedal must be less than the max current your adapter can deliver. If this is not the case, DONT try it!!!!

2) You are going to use a daisy chain cable, so the polarities of the 2 pedals MUST be the same. I think most are centre negative but CHECK!!!!

3) Some pedals introduce noise into the chain, so you may find there is a load of hiss but this shouldn't actually break anything. If it is noisy, you probably need 2 adapters.

If you look at my pedalboard, I power my dd-6, BF-2, Phase 90, TS-808 all off a daisy chained Line6 adapter and it is fine.

You can find out current draw for most popular pedals with a bit of googling :whistle

Yes, i've used the GT6 with quite a few amps before, and it colors the hell out of your amp's tone. Blech, i'll never use a multi-effects/modeler again.

Rotate in/out an Xotic AC Booster, MI Audio Crunchbox, Fulltone Ultimate Octave. Also put a Whammy and a Keeley Nova Wah before the Mellow Wah in the studio.

Amps vary between a Z Route 66 and 6545, Fargen Epic 30, and a Beavis Audio Noisy Cricket. Cabs all change depending on the gig too: Marshall 1960A, Avatar 212 (G12H30/V30), Avatar Vintage 112 (Weber Alnico Silver Bell 50 watt), JDesign 112 (Greenback), Fargen 112 (Weber Ceramic Blue 50 watt).
