Here's an 8 string, but like you said, pricey!

How do you tune an 8 string anyway?

Thanks Guys,
I was the high bidder on the White stagemaster 8, but I see it was pulled last night.
I was going to go for it, but.........

Someone back doored it Rod? :-|
jgaryt, the extra strings are tuned an octave above the main strings. Gives a nice fat unison sound.

The seller may have got cold feet, it was at less than 600 with no reserve and 12 hours left.
I was dreaming in octaves last night and woke up this morning to:arrg

It is still forsale as of 5 minutes ago hanging on the wall at Mike's Music on Vine street in Cincinnati; however the answers I got about it being on eBay were"can I call you back in about 10 minutes":scratchhe

Well suprise, suprise he did call me back.
This time I asked to speak with the owner, Mike and had a chat with him.
Guys the only advice I have is STAY AWAY FROM THIS SELLER AND HIS SHOPS -MIKE'S MUSIC.
SOME PEOPLE WOULD RATHER LIE, EVEN IF THE TRUTH SOUNDED BETTER!
SOME PEOPLE NEED TO UNDERSTAND THAT "IF YOU HAVE AN EXCUSE, YOU DON'T NEED ONE" WITH ME!

That sucks. :-x I've found that honest transactions, even if they are less than the expected price, are better for business in the long run.

THE EAGLE HAS LANDED :D
I have paid for the XL8; it has been picked up and is in the procession of my long time friend from elementary school. :jump
It will be in Bangor, Maine on Friday (in Mass. now)and I will work the details of getting it shipped down to SC ASAP :funnel ;)
Due to a schedule change, I don't believe I will make the EXPO this year to show it :-x
A great deal of effort went into bringing this one into the herd :treadmill
Many Thanks to it's previous owner for letting her go to a good home :poke

How about that maple neck, isn't that odd??
I can't say that I have seen one with anything but a neck that matches the body:scratchhe

It would be odd if it were on a black body but I think that one is burgundy. No crack on the heel either.

I recall the XL 98 that was up last year having the same burgundy color and neck:scratchhe
At any rate, it is cool with the maple neck and yes I notice the no crack ;)

So, I have a tracking number and the XL8 is scheduled to delivery Saturday the 24th.
I believe that the original case and the bass weigh in at 25.5 pounds.:thumbsup
The total weight of the package coming is 42.3 pounds.......:scratchhe
16.8 pounds of bubble wrap should stop a refrigerator from falling on it :D

i really like tuning mine a 5th above the root. instant power chords. to really make it work, however, you gotta use a slightly heavier gauge strings on the little ones.
but trust me, its worth it.

"so where did the blue one go?"
It is on a stand next to my Amp, it is my mule :)

I may try that after I get used to playing it ;)
I have an XL-8 that I may sell as it has turned out a bit too hard to play for me. I have emailed Phil about taking some of the built in bow from the aluminum neck to make it easier for me. I have been spoiled by the ease of playing my 1973 4001 Ric. If that doen's work out I will sell for what I have in it. 1K plus freight. It is in perfect condition and is maple with walnut accent.

Don,
Mine has with the bass strung , using a 24 inch straightedge spanning centerline from fret 0 to fret 24, measuring at the eighth fret (closest to center) the clearance, bow, is 0.927 mm, can’t be seen without a straightedge. That is .0365" in inches. Incidentally, this is the best neck I have from the fret board side out of 4 other Lumies. Guess I am fortunate!
What does yours measure?
