Anyone know about these? Are they worth a crap? I found a really good looking one in a pawn shop the other day. They were asking $450.00!! Never seen the Slammer series prior to this and from what I have read they are not favored by many. And unless I am seriuosly missing something, they had it listed new as $1200.00!

They're very nice for the money, but they cost less than that new. Those are asian in-house copies, but very good ones, comparable to PRS SE or such.

Look here:

http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?from=R40&_trksid=m37&satitle=hamer+slammer&category0=

And as of $1200, tell him the crack he smokes is of VERY bad quality :happy1 You can easily get a mint US Hamer for that money.

Thanks for the information! I looked at the ebay link. ANd the one i seen is not like any of them. I asked how firm that price was and the guy at the pawn shop said VERY firm! So i think I may pass on getting it.

my first guitar was a slammer XP-1 Standard in Wine red

pretty sexy axe- its more or less an explorer copy. Its plywood which is unfortanate cuz it makes it weigh a ton but it does sound pretty decent and the neck is to die for!! So slim and quick!!! :drool
I really oughta play that thing more....maybe once I get new pups installed :thumbsup

$450 used, it can be bought way cheaper than that. I just paid $375 for this 1993 USA Hamer Studio.

Todd, is that the one from the bay? I almost made a $500 offer on that :D You're lucky I came upon the US-Warlock I liked (see my thread) before I bid on that one, hehe.

Yeah that is what I thought too! I want one like you got! Want to sell it to me?

I have a 93 Hamer (slammer series) Diablo, that is dead mint! and sounds and plays killer. The neck is like a Ibanez neck, skinny, thin and fast. I would put this thing against a lot of guitars today in quality and smoke em. The cheap Slammer crap that is around to day are not even close to these. Back then these were copies of the US models just a little cheaper. I might get another one but I wouldn't look very hard at a Slammer. The slammers are cheap in every way, some of the earlyer ones are ok but nothing like these. Look at these pics, and see if the $1200 one looks anywhere near as good as this one or Kramer nut's, guitar (clean good looking guitar). Who is this guy? tell him I'll sell him mine for $2500! because I know his is not in this condition. hehehe

But it may be going down the road soon so I can get another Kramer.

The one this guy had was different. The head was slanted downwards more. And was the same color as Kramer Nut's. But it was in mint condition, not a scratch on it! I didn't and won't get it now though.....not unless he would take $200-$250 for it!

Would rather go for an 80's/early 90's Cal. for the money, can pick them up when you find them for about the same money or less

So it's the LP body style? Does it have the logo on the head stock like mine?

Kramer nut's guitar looks to be in great condition in the pic and is a US model. If the one you are looking at is like that it might be worth a little more. I know I wouldn't sell mine for $250, and you won't find USA models every day for the $450 he paid in that condition.

If you are looking for something like that just keep looking, you'll find something you like for a good deal. When you find one you like just look at it real hard, go over every inch of it, play it, it might not be the perfect one, or it might be the one your looking for.

halo71

Yeah its the same body at your green one. Just a different color and a little different head. Doesnt matter now really. I passed on buying it. Although I always wanted a Hamer!

No that's not from the bay, I bought it on our Employee classifieds, the guy didn't know what he had and advertised it as a Special FM. I found out after I picked it up from him that it is a Studio because of the carved top. It plays like buttah!! I told the guy I really like it and he asked me if I wanted to buy his other Hamer, here it is. $225.00 for this one.

What do you guys know about these? Mid 90's Centaura from the 90's?

That paint is killer!:drool Nice guitar man.:thumbsup

I've had the bug to pick up a nice Hamer for a while now. But I don't know crap about them. I kinda hate to get one with no clue what to look for before I buy.

Todd

That must be a Centaura from the early 90s. I have a Slammer Centaura from 1991 that looks exactly like this one, except it has a banana head. I put DiMarzio pups in it and it sounds great.
Yours should have SDs I think.

That Centaura shape is my all time favourite, the pots and selectors are at the perfect place. Hope to add some US made Centauras to the family someday

You DO realize I'm beginnig to hate you now? :D ;) Talk about being lucky!

Yes, that's a Centaura. I had one of those, some of the finest shredders ever made. Man, you're fwcking lucky, that's unbelivable...

BTW, there's a green Diablo on german Ebay right now, just like that Slammer above but the US-version. Going for EUR 400 but with no pickups in it.

Hamer Slammer are the lower end of Hamer I would never pay $1,200 for one! :scratchhe one of the only Hamers that can command that much cash is the chaparral models and the Scarabs amongst other USA made Hamers.

I was gonna buy a Slammer 'Explorer' style guitar once. It played really well and sounded pretty good. I passed on it because of the lower end brand name stigma. I probably should have snagged it.

okay guys, i was in his shop again today looking at a Scehcter Omen-6. I bought it and was walking out the door when he says. "Was you in here last week look at that Hamer?" I said yeah I was but you are wanting too much for it. He says, make me an offer, business has been really slow. I jokingly said $200. He says okay I can do that. So I got it and the Omen-6 for $400 with cases! I will post some pics soon as I can. But this Hamer is not the one that says Slammer on the head. It says Hamer and Slammer Series right below. And the headstock is more tilted down that the ones posted in this thread. I think it may be a Centaura from the early 90's??? Not sure about it, but I am damn sure about the Omen-6! This will make my 3rd Schecter to put in the stable! :) Both guitars are mint as well.

No, centaura is US only and has a reversed headstock and HSS config. But the one you bought is still sweet, especially for that money.

Okay well I am confused as to what it really is then! It is HSS config. No inverted headstock either. I will post some pics as soon as I can.

Love to see the Pics...
I've been looking at this but don't know much about Hamers. Similar to the PRS Style posted with 2 Knobs instead of 3 w/ toggle.

There is simply no way to do any wrong with ANY Hamer, even the asian ones. Their quality has always been consistently high.

The Hamer needs some work as you can tell from the pictures. But other than the missing hardware. It does not have a scratch on it. So did I do good or what? Both guitars with cases for $400.00! Plus both cases had a set of strings and a cable in them!

Yes you did great, I"ve never seen a Hamer Slammer like that but it sure looks nice. Let us know how it plays when you get it set up!!

That Hamer/Slammer is a newer ones (late 90's and up) All the newer ones that used that logo had the shaved edges on the headstock and different profile. They were also lower quality controled, and tend to have every sharp fret edges! (how are yours?)They were really Slammers, but with Hamers name first.

My green Diablo is a 93, and has the standard Hamer headstock and neck profile. The 2 neck profiles are about the same but still different. The differences it these 2 guitars is really quite a bit, Same basic logo, but that is about it.

Don't take what I'm saying wrong, I have had both series, the one you have and the one I have :)

Either way it's still nice and I'm sure you'll like, or you wouldn't have bought it :)

Aww man, the wind in my sails has died! lol

nah, I mean I still think i got a deal for both guitars. I knew this Hamer was closer to the bottom of the barrel. But I still like it. Plus the Omen-6 goes for around $300+ new, and this one is in new condition.

It was a good deal, that Hamer is not bad either.

junior

Nothing wrong with either of them.

Just set em up and play em.

My Hamer is the only 24 fret guitar I own, kinda nice sometimes, but it's headed down the road.

Hey guys, I'm sorry to drag up this thread after such a long time, but I thought it would make more sense than making a new thread for this.
Basically I'd like to ask if you could identify this Hamer for me.
I aquired it around 10 years ago, and from what I can gather, it had been played for quite a number of years before that.
All I know about it, is that it's a Hamer Slammer Series, I've looked all over on the web to find out more about it, but haven't come up with any leads yet, so I thought you guys might be able to help me out.
Here's a couple of pics, see what you can make of it ;)
Cheers.
