Axe to A/B Switch
A side to Art SGX2000 Express w/bigfoot Pedal Controller > to Mackie 32/4 Stereo> Buss 1 & 2
B side to Ibanez TS9 Tube Screamer > POD XTLive > MAckie 32/4 Stereo > Buss 1 & 2
The 4 mackie channels are tapped to Aardvark Q10 Inputs and Into a 3.1g HP PC running sonar 6
The Mackie Buss 1 is Left to a Nady 300 watt power amp and Buss 2 is the right.
The Nady is driving (1) 2-12 Carvin speaker cabinet parrelled to a kustom 10/horn PA speaker on each side. Gives 4ohms impedence for 150 watts per channel.

I have to add that since listening to my old bands practices tapes (posted) I have been drawn back to my Marshall. I have been playing it for the last two weeks and am loving it. There are a few things I need to get it up to speed effects wise but that Marshall overdrive is just totally awesome!

My live rig was:
Robin Medely - Charvel Fusion Custom - Ripley mutt >
Nady wireless>
Peavey 5150 head>
Alesis Quadraverb GT (ran in effects loop of 5150 and controlled by an ART midi foot-controller)>
5150 4x12 cab.
Simple but effective.
At home it changes all the time. I have a couple Mesa preamps, a couple Mesa power amps, an old Hafler triple giant preamp, and a couple 2x12 cabs and I just mix & match whatever I feel like.

Kramer Focus 3000 > ADA MP1 (unmodded, ver. 2.01) > Rocktron Intellifex Online > Rocktron Velocity 100 > Avatar 2X12 w/ Celestion G12T-75s, all powered by ART PB Pro 4X4 power conditioner. I occasionally run the ADA's second output into the effects return on my Behringer GMX-212, which has Jensen speakers that are a LOT brighter than the Celestions and actually provides an interesting balance to the whole rig.
Other stuff sometimes in the chain includes BOSS TU-2 tuner (sometimes in ADA's headphone jack), BOSS DS-1 (for a bit more fuzz and sizzle) and BOSS RC-2 Loop Station (for practice). I've also got an MXR Phase 100 that I almost never use and an old Zoom 505II that occasionally gets practice time over the lunch hour at work (it actually fits that bill nicely).
Backing things up is my lowly 1999 'Yo focus.

Depending on what instrument I'm playing on a given night:
If I'm playing Guitar:
Guitar -> wireless unit (Audio-Technica or Nady) -> Boss tuner -> Cry Baby ->
{ Small club: Fender Montreaux or Marshall TSL 60 + JCM 1936 }
{ Medium or larger club Mesa Rect-o-Verb 112 or Marshall TSL 60 + JCM 1960A }
-> Boss DD-6 -> DOD Chorus -> {amplifier} -> Shure SM-57 -> PA system (I just about always reinforce)
If I'm playing Bass: Bass -> wireless unit -> Peavey Max 700 <-> tuner -> 1960s Kustom 2x15 (red sparkle tuck and roll), sometimes with Legion Sound EMI-410 on the other side of the drummer -> PA system (in a large venue)
If I'm playing Keyboards: Roland Juno-2 synth -> Model 147 Leslie (usually miked with two Shure SM-57s) and Roland EP-7ii piano -> DI box -> PA system
Main stage guitars: Pacers (Deluxe, Imperial, PCM1), E.E. Pro 1, sometimes a Strat or Les Paul
Main stage basses: DMz4001 lumie and Forum 3 (active pups)

How does the 1936 sound with the TSL 60? I been thinking of picking one up.
:thumbsup
It's a really good match for the power of the TSL 60. If you don't need to move quite as much air as the 1960A does, the 1936 is great. The baffle is tilted back about 7-8 degrees (rough estimate), so it projects all right, though not as far as the 1960. Same speakers, so the sound is similar. I think it's a bit more directional. In a small club, where bleed over the vocal mikes can get you into trouble, this is a real advantage. There's one club we play in once every two or three months that has a fairly high stage and a low ceiling. My 1960 actually gets "lost" in there because it requires more space to fully develop its sound, but the 1936 works great. Pretty reasonably priced, too. I think I gave about $479 for it brand new. :thumbsup

I think this thread needs a revival :thumbsup
Currently: Fender MIM stratocaster (HSS config) into DS-1, Dunlop Crybaby CGB-95 (although I don't like it's wah tone much)..into a VX 65D (I think thats what the amp model is, says it on the amp) 65w 2x12 solid state combo (my uncles old amp which I'm borrowing).
I order my S&D Kramer '84 reissue on the 14th/15th Nov so that will be added.
By February/March/April next year:
Kramer 1984 Reissue, Fender MIM Stratocaster into a Dunlop Crybaby CGB-95 into a Valve Amp Head (Most likely either a Peavey Valveking, Marshall DSL-50 or Vintage Modern 50w head...still deciding if I should go with an Orange AD30HTC).
The DS-1 will probably be stored away as I will most likely using the distortion/overdrive thats on the amp.
Hopefully I should have my 2 2x12 cabs then too, otherwise I can always borrow my uncles 4x12 1960A if he isn't using it until I get my cabs.

Whats the valveking like through the Marshall cab? I've only tried the 2x12 combo (local only had the combo version), it sounded ok but then again the stock speakers aren't too great from what I've read.
it sounds fantastic
especially because i normally bypass the preamp using its FX return and solely use its poweramp to power the cab unit, the tone comes from the POD xt live :thumbsup

Here's how I usually jam....
Guitar ------> Marshall 4203 combo
When I was playing live, this was the most elaborate I got....
Guitar ----> Nady wireless ---> Alesis processor ---> Boss pedalboard (6 pedals) ---> Morley Cry-Baby ---> Morley Little Aligator ---> Marshall 3203 full stack
Just before I left the band, I was experimenting with this...
Guitar ----> Alesis processor ---> Boss pedalboard (6 pedals) ---> Morley Cry-Baby ---> Morley Little Aligator ---> A/B box ---> Marshall 3203 full stack or Marshall 2550 full stack
The A/B was letting me do some really cool stuff with mixing nasty/dirty sounds with some really clean stuff for contrast in songs.

My rig at school is either a Proaxe, 1984 or Hello Kitty Squier straight to a Vox ADVT 15 running on the UK 80s Channel with a bit of reverb and delay or through a Line 6 Guitarport which I think probably sounds a bit better and is a little more fun to dick around with

Yes the Whammy is worth every penny !!!! The octaver section tracks well and fast and the whammy effect is totally awesome. If you're a Dimebag or Tom Morello fan it is definately a must have.
hmm maybe ill check one of these out. I've been playing with the octaver on my line 6 guitarport and its been alot of fun just doing runs up and down the neck with it. Its a real cool sound :thumbsup
What else can the whammy do?

Haha no guys it is a legit JCM 800. However, it IS modded. ;) It's actually a 4210 model, which was a 1x12, 50 Watt combo. The head basically has its own cabinet now, in creme tolex. It still has the original panel anyhoo. :thumbsup
Here's what the amp originally looked like:

Have you ever thought of getting a small fender tube amp? The old Vibro Champ from the 70s is a good amp. in the US you can find a good one used for $400 bucks. Just Volume, Treble, bass, Vibrato (tremolo) Speed, Vibrato intensity.

The JCM900 is a badass amp :thumbsup I really like them.
My main live rig (for hard rock and metal) is an old ADA MP1 into a Rocktron Intellifex, Rocktron Replifex, BBE 482 Sonic Maximizer, Rocktron Hush IICX, into a Mesa 2:90 and a stereo 4x12 with 75w Celestions. I'm a perpetual tone chaser and have changed out the ADA several times (Triaxis, JMP1, Bogner Fish, Hafler/Bogner Triple Giant, Groove Tubes Solo, Mesa Quad, and others) but I always come back to this rig.
You cansee it all lit up behind me in this recent gig photo:
http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a379/rupe68/DSC01216.jpg
For more classic tones, I have a Matchless Chieftain 2x12, a mildly modded '68 Deluxe Reverb, and an early 60's Epiphone Pacemaker (a firebreathing little tone monster). For practice I use an Mesa Boogie Studio .22+. A Marshall 3203 head with 70's Marshall 4x12 cab, Fender G-Dec, and a couple of small Crate practice amps round out the collection. I've also got a ton of pedals of all different types, most of which I rarely use.

I have a 1966 Fender Princeton Reverb - 18 watts and 1-10 inch Jensen. Tremolo, Reverb and ... that's all. Sounds great with the Schaller HBs on my Imperials. I run the volume at about 7, so it's plenty loud for light jamming etc. When I see what those things sell for on da Bay, sometimes I think about selling it, but it's been a part of my arsenal of amps since the mid 1970s, and it would be like sellng a part of me.

Boss GT-10 into Peavey Valveking (whenever I borrow my Uncles Cab) via the 4 Cable Method (4CM) or into the 2x12 SS amp via the 2 cable method (as the SS doesn't have an effects loop)
Guitars: Kramer Pacer Deluxe, Fender Stratocaster, Jackson Kelly.
I did have the Kelly & Valveking up for sale but I'm going to keep them. I'm going to give the Kelly another go, and I decided to keep the VK because the GT-10 has the gain and sounds I need on it so I no longer need to sell the VK for an amp with more gain etc :thumbsup

If I'm in an all tube mood:
I usually use either my LTD(active pups) or one of my early Pacers plugged into a Dunlop original crybabby then into a Mesa/Boogie Subway Rocket 1x10 combo(I think its 15-20 watts and it can hang with most drummers no problem). I unplug the 10" speaker and plug into a Mesa 1x12 3/4 back cabnet. In the effects loop is a BBE Sonic Maximizer and a rackmount tuner. I also have a Mesa/Boogie F-50(sounds awsome, but too many watts for my taste). It's great for recording direct into the board w/o speaker.
If I'm in a solid state mood:
I usually use either my LTD(active pups) or one of my early Pacers plugged into the Dunlop crybabby then into an Ampeg VH140C combo using the onboard 2x12 configuration. In the effects loop is the BBE and tuner. This amp is way underrated. With the mids cranked up the metal crunch is awsome. The clean chanel sounds awsome too. I'm not a big fan of amps with onboard effects, but this amp has a dual output(one for chorus signal and one for dry signal) chorus that makes the clean sound so sweet.

I've stayed out of this thread because it would mean cleaning up my little "studio" jam room. Since we had guests over during Christmas I had to clean it anyway. It only got "somewhat" straightened so here are some pics of my toys. Not pictured is my new Epi Joe Pass, a Pocket POD and a drawer full of stomp boxes.
Rack is:
Alesis Midiverb 4
BBE 482i Sonic Maximizer
Ibanez HD1000 Harmonizer
ADA MP-1 tube pre-amp
Peavey Classic 60/60 tube power amp
5150 Slant 4x12
Line 6 Flextone II XL
Blue Voodoo 6212 tube twin
Behringer 3/4 stack bass rig ( 1x15 and 2x10 with aluminum Bugera cones)
I have 3 drumsets and you got to see the Pacifics set. I also have a Pearl and a DW kit.
The studio gear would take a while to type and would bore you to death.

I'm a ham radio operator and storm chaser so all of the stuff on the left side of my desk is communications equipment. The monitor on the left normally runs doppler weather radar and uses one of the radios below to transmit current conditions at my house to the National Weather Service. It's a lot of fun and is my "nerd-sport" of choice.
Metalchurch, that Harmonizer is OLD and I haven't used it in years. It's the only thing in my rack that isn't even plugged up.
:poke Someone needs to trade me out of it. :D
I do seriously need a rack though. but this is a very protected environment so I dont have people bumping into things. The Peavey 60/60 is an all tube stereo power amp with 12AX7's in the pre stage and 4 6L6's in the power side. Bullet proof amps and I only run one side of it into the 5150.......which is just about all that 5150 really wants to handle. They are EXTREMELY loud amps.
The "Shark" is burgandy red and silver just like Ed's. It is a tone monster and I keep it tuned down for early VH.

I thought Ed's was Red/White...learn something new everyday.
What size of rack case do you need? ...(Edit: looks like you need a 6 space)
Maybe we can work a trade for the Ibanez?
Let me know and I'll check into it. I know there's a few for sale locally.
Thanks

Some awesome arrays of guitars, FX. and amps here, everyone!
Mine is rather humble, but it gets the job done pretty well:
Kramer 1985 Focus 3000
Kramer 1986 or 87 Focus 1000
Kramer 1987 Focus 1000 w/ Duncan Buckshot (import version of Distortion) which replaced original "select by EMG"
Kramer 1987 Striker (POS, Frankenstrat painted, just for show at this point)
Kramer 1989 F-3000
Kramer 2008 Baretta Reissue
Epiphone Dot
FX order:
MXR EVH Phase 90 (essential for VH and Pink Floyd, of course :thumbsup) Much smoother and more subtle when placed out front
Update: Boss AW-3 Dynamic Wah (just got this one for $40! Great for whacked out synthy sounds or just for when my foot is lazy :D)
Dunlop Crybaby (not the classic, but the cheap "original"...sounds decent when placed out front, horrible anywhere else in the chain)
Digitech RP-7 Tube preamp/processor (love the tube overdrive and quick switching...just bought a back-up in case it dies)
Boss DD3 Delay (much prefer dialing in on the fly to using the RP-7's delay)
Boss BF-2 Flanger ($25 at a yard sale..comes in handy once in a while for sick-and-crazy effect)
Danelectro EQ
and all of that runs into...*anticlimactic pause*
A Crate GT-200 (cheap, old, pre "flex-wave" - even pre-onboard digital effects) with a hybrid tube/solid state preamp and built-in analog chorus - both of which are key - The chorus is on at all times...makes a HUGE difference in the sound, and the 1 x 12AX7 and 3 x 12AU7 tube preamp really does the trick. I never use the solid state setting (though it's great to have in case a tube goes out mid-show). I get a fair amount of compliments for my tone, but because I removed the "Crate" logo (I just dont like the way the big blocky white letters look), other players are always asking me what kind of amp it is...one guy was like "is that a Line 6?" Our singer and I started telling people it was a "Line 4" just to be stupid. After they find out it's a Crate, they're sometimes surprised. I do think that, since superficial first impressions can be powerful but often wrong, I'd get less compliments if I had the Crate Logo on the amp...:lol
All I know is, it gets the job done, is plenty loud (I actually put the gain and volume up all the way and use the output on the RP-7 to set volume, and I get the amp's full sound) and I like the way it sounds! :)
ps I play in a covers band doing everything from '60s to today, from AC-DC/VH/Hair Metal to Pink Floyd, U2, Tom Petty, from The Doors to Radiohead...you get the idea. The setup gives me the flexibility I need!
Update: I now run a BBE Sonic Stomp in the Crate's FX loop. Didn't think I could get this setup to sound any better, but it really does! :thumbsup

Ok..
I guess it is time to post mine since I think I have what I want for now.. :lol
guitar into a Bogner Line 6 40 watt tube 1 12 combo amp.. I don't use the speaker in the combo amp at all :nono .. so I use a Boogie 2 x 12 cabinet.. man does that ever make that amp come alive..!!! :thumbsup
in the effects loop is a old 362 BBE and that is it boys and girls.. very simple set up.. in a pinch I could get rid of the Boogie and just use the combo amp... so even more plain and simple..
BTW: I also have the $100.00 pedal board from Line 6... and a Furman power conditioner..!!! ( conditioner as a just in case type of thing )
I get just about any tone/sound I want from this very simple set up..!!!! :thumbsup
does it sound dead on a Marsall ..?? no... does it sound dead on a Boogie amp..???? no.. but it is so close it is not EVEN funny.. plus it does other amps also.. both clean and dirt..!!!! :thumbsup
EDIT: I then put a SM-58 on the speaker cabinet when gigging.. as the PA is where it is at..!!!!!!

I had a lot of other guitars and gear, but bills called, lol. I had Les Paul's, Deans, Agiles, Flying V's, a bad ass original Ibanez RG550 that I got rid of like a dope, and other crap. I also had better amps at one point, lol. But it's crazy how important car insurance, rent, and phone bills are haha.

Ampage: 1990 Marshall JCM800 2205 - po replaced all lower quality components w/higher quality parts - he did amp repairs professionally - he also recovered in pink & white snakeskin - looks as loud as it is!

My rig right this minute is all rack. I have combo's and stuff lying around but right now all I use is what's listed. I won't list all the guitar's because there are too many and I don't consider them "rig". I'm using my main "A" 8 space rack most of the time but I have a second 8 space I A/B to or just use my B rack for certain things.
"A rack" is: Furman PL-Plus conditioner, Korg DTR-1 Digital rack tuner, BBE 482i Sonic Maximizer, Alesis Quadraverb, ADA MP-1 3TM, DBX 266xl compressor/Limiter, TubeWorks MosValve mv-962 Power Amp, Art X-11 Midi pedal board.........This rig took a long time to find each piece, experiment replace pieces and track down hard to find pieces like the 3TM. For me anyway's this is the perfect rig. I would't change a thing. This goes into a pair of Yamaha P.A.'s..
"B rack" I change around and use multiple pre amps. Furman PL-Plus Conditioner, Rockman Sustainor, Rockman Stereo chorus delay, Behringer V-amp Pro, Rane ME-15 Stereo EQ, ADA MP-1, TubeWorks MosValve 1160 Power Amp.
I drive this into believe it or not a 4X12 Behringer slant cab BG412 Ultrastack. This cab is heavy and inexpensive but it's really transparent and doesn't color my preamps' sound at all. It just doesn't do well at high volume so it's gone soon or maybe just kept as a spare.
A rack is solid but B changes all the time.......:thumbsup

Hey Tom, can you post a pic? Looks like one hell of a set up!
Update

New guitarport is really the sex at the mo
Rest of the time (guitar>whatever line6 send me :D>amp if needed
running a 2nd line6 preamp unit in the loop has what i like to call the cheat method without having to fork out for a Line6 POD X3 rackmount which has the features of dual running patches :thumbsup

Digitech GNX3 Multi-Effects
Into:

or
Tascam US122 USB interface for recording.
I just play at home, with the occasional jam session out, so the 30 watter is doing me just fine.
Lately I've been trying to decided if I should stick with the GNX3, or go with individual pedals.....

Guitars would be:
(2) 85 Jackson Soloists, 08' Wayne Rock Legend, 91 EBMM EVH Purple Quilt, 08' LP R8, 88 LPC Lite,
'08 335, '98 Lynch S'burst Tiger, '80 & '81 Hhamer Sunburst Specials, '76-77 Ibanez "Korina" Destroyer w/Floyd, Blackmore Strat, '74 Mocha Strat w/old Schecter PUPS and Floyd. My Kramers, '91 Charvel 375 deluxe, '82 Schecter Strat, '98 G&L ASAT, Fender MIJ Strat 12 and some others (because they all sound different and have different purposes) which means I need a second sound for amps so
all played through
78 Marshall 2204 JMP, 86 2204 JCM 800, and a Soldano Snakeskin HR50 (all half-stacks) and a Carvin "belAir" tweed combo.
Effects: GSP21 legend, a lot of MXR: Carbon Copy, EVH Phase 90, MXR Comp, one of the old Ibanez Overdrives (after the TS), a Boss Super Overdrive (just to boost-not to add "pedal" gain), Boss CS-3, Vox wah, Boss Octaver, an old DOD Flanger, regular Phase 90-set to "0" just to get the phase shift but not to oscillate. And the crown jewel..an old (late 60's early 70's) VOX bass/treble booster. Man what a kick ass plug-in for that little push "over the cliff" which is where it usually ends up. LOL. the Blackmore Strat is the hardest to play live because the SD Quarter Pounders and the Basswood combination has a little too much something:scratchhe . The power amps and stuff I have for real small stuff w/ the Carvin but I prefer to basically just "plug in" old school on the big stuff. Some people don't like it though. LOL.

Ok Tim, as requested here are pics as of tonight. I now have 3 racks at least for now. I pulled the compressor out of "1" rack and the stock Mp-1 and EQ out of "2" rack to form a 4 space recording rack. Not by my choice, but we are recording at Lange studio's here at Richmond Beach and so those are still there. No it's not a big deal, I wish but Bob the owner wanted loops from an MP-1. These pics were taken tonight at my house current set up. As you can see I switched the TubeWorks 962 which I like better, with the 1160. The 962 is an original Butler power amp from 92 and the 1160 is a Genz Benz Butler after he sold his company. I love TubeWorks stuff. The only reason I changed them out is that the 962's get scratchy pots and the 1160's don't and so the 962 is going to have some work done. As you can see racks are just as bad as far as GAS as guitars. Rack 1 is the one with the MP-1 3TM. Either of these two could lay waste to a small village. The EQ in "2" rack is for all purposes a space filler as I've tried to get it working but it's dead..........You wouldn't believe what I went through to get that 3TM. Bought it in your back yard.

I had a GT-8 that sounded great but I think even rack gear is less complex. It just did too much in one unit for me.Or maybe it was just all the stuff you had to do just to get it programed and running right. For me anyway I wasn't up for it. I just used it in manual as stompboxes without all the modelers and stuff. I was fun to play with though....:thumbsup

Okay, here's mine. Signal chain:
Guitar -- Shure Wireless -- MXR EQ -- Yamaha Rex 50 -- (Signal Split)
LEFT -- Marshall JCM800
RIGHT -- TS-808 Tube Screamer original -- MXR Phaser -- MXR Flanger -- '72 Marshall Superlead w/MV
The Yamaha splits the signal and de-tunes the Marshall JCM. The detune is the magic. The picture shows a 8 cent detune, which really makes the sound lush. If you go even more, you can get the Rush and 5150 sound as well. Even more gets into a 12 string kinda sound.
Here are some pics!

Still basically Kramer/GT-3/Desk
But I'm about halfway to changing that once I have everything for my rack setup.
So far I have a Midiverb4 into GSP21 Legend into Mosfet Poweramp into 4x12 valvestate cab.

An Ibanez RG3120 or Hamer diablo going into a Flextone III Plus.
I have a number of pedals. My best effects units are a T.C. Electronics Nova Reverb and a Digitech Hardwire delay. The have good tone. I run these through the effects loop sometimes. I also run a Boss eq pedal somewhere in the chain sometimes. I change things up some. I have a VOX Big Ben overdrive and other gain pedals that I use on occassion. I just usually like relying on the amp though adding gain via a pedal can give it some crunch! My tone is more a long the lines of some progressive rock guitarists, though I don't play that music. It's just that the the eq of the amp models are bass heavy with my guitars. I add the eq sometimes to give me more flexibility.

hey all, newbie here, thought i'd show off mine
My guitar rig
Engl Powerball
Carvin 4x12 and a Sunn 4x12
effects loops in order consists of:
-MXR 6-band eq which is always on. I use this to boost the mids. I have discovered that the Powerball tends to not cut through the mix in a band enviorment enough, so t takes care of that problem very well.
-Moogerfooger analog delay, sounds unbeliveable,
-EH Holy Grail reverb which is always on because
none of my amps have a built in. I have it on a low setting to give my tone a subtle "wetness"
-POG 2, this is one seriously awesome octave pedal. I use it to bouble in bass lines as well as get some cool pipe organ effects.
-Cathedral Reverb. I use it mostly with "larger" settings for clean tones. Has a great infinite sustain feature.
-BBE sonic stomp...this thing makes any amp CRUSH!
-BOSS RC-2 loop station my bands secret weapon

Do you know how long it took to make that guitar stand!
6 pieces of wood of different lengths all cut sanded sprayed red and taped black and white, piece of copper pipe between the uprights and then used pipe insulation to cover the pipe and the two pieces of wood at the bottom of the frame to protect the guitar, screw/nail all together and voila :D

My current gear is a Rocktron Chameleon effects processor running into a Velocity 250 power amp. I'm using a Marshall JCM 900 4 x 12 for my cabinet. I bought this setup over 10 years ago, and thankfully it's still sounds good enough so I can put my money into more guitars!

Update:
Guitars:
- Jamerson superstrat resembling a Pacer Imperial, my current No. 1
- GKG/Siggy custom bastard (also resembling an Imperial, I'm a two-hum guy :))
- Kramer Savant II
- Unk X-Mark with LP-floyd (my main player/beater, great axe for the money)
- GKG Custom upgraded with DiMarzios (for sale/trade now, since I stopped liking huge frets and paper-thin necks)
- cheap Dean bass
EDIT:
- Godin XTSA guitar
Amps:
- Line6 Spider Valve 40W 1x12" - my main amp
- Blackstar HT-5 for studio work and practicing
FX:
- Rocktron Utopia G200 - my main tool for recording
- old ART rack reverb that I can't part with because it sounds killer
In the HT-5 fx-loop:
- Boss Compressor/Sustainer
- MXR 10-band EQ
- Ibanez 3-mode chorus
- Rocktron ShortTimer delay
- Behringer reverb/delay
- Yerasov TubeMonster distortion
- Peterson strobo tuner (the best addition to the setup in years!)
- Pocket Pod for practicing at home
- POD farm on my PC for recording rough demos etc.
I think Line6 should send me a yearly check if this goes on :D
That's it. Quite a nice reduction from last year.

I'm playing thru this with a NS-2 suppressor and currently an SD-1 to boost it a little, but I'm also in the process of trying out different OD/dist pedals. Got an old HM-2 coming...http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b170/agentheinz/000_0040.jpg
Guitar --> Boss TU-2 --> Boss NS-2 --> Axess Electronics BS-2 (buffer/splitter with three isolated outputs)
BS-2 goes to:
1. 5150-II --> Marshall 1960B w/ Vintage 30's
2. 5150 --> Marshall 1960A w/ 20-watt Heritage Greenbacks
3. '71 Marshall (Metal Panel) Plexi --> '68 Marshall straight cab with G12-65's.
5150-II is for clean & distorted FX sounds (FX courtesy of Pod XT Pro in the loop. Soon to be a Replifex when it gets here from Canada.) FX Loop can be switched on and off.
5150 is dry all the time.
Marshall is also dry all the time.
Amps & FX are selected via a Ground Control Pro / GCX setup. Generally I have two going at a time for rhythm sounds. One for clean... And for song intros where there is only one guitar playing on the recording I use just the Marshall then kick another one on when the whole band comes in.
I could certainly get away with just the 5150, but I get a kick out of the look on people's faces when they see me loading three half stacks onto the tiny stage in whatever dump we're playing in.

guitar of my choice from my heard > in jack on the boss noise supressor
now from here it gets complicated.......
boss noise supressor (using the send and return jacks) > Korg pitch black tuner > electro harmonix metal muff with top boost > Boss sd1 super overdrive > boss equalizer > Boss Chorus Ensamble > ibanez w7 weeping deamon > back to return jack on the noise supressor....
then finally the out jack on the noise supressor > Marshall JCM 2000 DSL 100 into 4X12 cab. (tone shift and deep buttons pressed in AND on the crunch channel with gain at 5...):thumbsup
yep.... thats a beautiful thing right there piss of the neighbors effortlessly.... AND NOT EVEN HAVE THE VOLUME PAST 2.....the EH metal muff takes care of my massively heavy distortion at low levels.
now for recording....
guitar of my choice from my heard....> line 6 spider 3 combo > outjack on amp > m-audio recording interface > macbook pro using garageband '09.
:-| .....it gets the job done till i can afford my dream combo...a marshall tsl 122.

It's not that good. It's very inconsistent. Some days it sounds great and some it just lacks balls. It's not as if it's totally crap but if it sounded as good as it does on a good day all the time it would be perfect.

I like different distortions & overdrives. The 5150II lends itself nicely - ease up on the clean channel, ease up on the OCD & DS-1, and use them in different combos with the clean channel crunch mode.
Fairly simple and versatile without getting complicated!

I find it interesting going through this thread.
People say rack gear is complicated, but some of you guys are running giant pedal boards into amps
I'm reasonably certain that when I connect my 2 output cables from the preamp to my poweramp, that is much more simple than those pedal boards.
Even in a little while when i get back to an effects unit in the effects loop of a preamp, that is very simple, and will produce a deadly tone, as most Rocktron and Peavey products do.

Hey, this is cool!! I'll post pics soon too. Listed here is just the stuff in my main rig. I use 3 amps.
Typically, my rig consists of,...
1. Marshall JCM 900, 100 watt head and 2 Marshall straight, closed back 4x12 1960 lead cabinets.
2. FUCHS Viper, 100 watt head and one Marshall straight closed back 4x12 1960 lead cabinet.
3. Roland JC-120 Jazz Chorus 2x12 open back amp.
These three amps are all linked together with a MORLEY ABC switcher pedal and MONSTER cables.
I use a MORLEY digital tuner, a Granville Copper Drive ( a SWEET overdrive pedal custom made by my friend Scott Davis and his company Granville Guitars), a Dunlop Dimebag wah, a MORLEY mini volume pedal, a T.C. Nova digital delay pedal, a Boss DD-6 digital delay pedal and finally the MORLEY ABC switcher. Sometimes I add a Boss octaver, an Electro Harmonix poly phase and/or a Boss flanger for extra fatness and swoosh.
I also Use EbTech HumX plugins and MONSTER power conditioning.
Typically, my working Kramers are,...
1. 1982 sparkly blueburst Kramer Pacer Special (modified) with EMGX pickups and afterburner.
2. 1982 sunburst Kramer Pacer Imperial (modified) with EMGX pickups.
3. 1983 blue/green Kramer Pacer Imperial (modified) with EMG pickups and afterburner.
4. 1981 black Kramer Pacer Imperial (modified) with EMG pickups.
5. 1983 cream Kramer Pacer Deluxe (modified) with stock Schaller pickups and freakwired strat switch (by Jim Jewell).
6. 1982 emerald green Kramer Pacer Deluxe (modified) with Bill Lawrence and DiMarzio pickups and freakwired stratswitch ( by Jim Jewell).
Naturally, all my Kramers have the original Floyd Rose vibrato system and I like the DiMarzio straplock straps as well.

Just bought a new bit of gear, I won't say too much, but here's a teaser: It's 45 years old, all original except for a single tube, and for what I payed I basically stole it :thumbsup.

are we going to find out eventually? or no:D
As for my rig, its just a lot of stuff in a big rack, I don't know exactly what it does, but it looks cool, so we're good:thumbsup:funnel

My new pedalboard in progress:

The G-Lab GSC-3 is amazing , 6 loops for my pedals, it controls my amps channel switching and my rack effects with midi, switchable buffer and just killer flexibility, and any switch can be programmed to be whatever you want.
I've set mine up so I have 8 presets and two instant access switches, so I can kick in my Phase 90 or Flanger in any preset.
And I can set up multiple banks with other configurations, just mind blowing flexibility.
It's a Bradshaw rack system in a compact format. :)

This is my latest toy. I bought two of these.
I can run guitar to mini Plexi through the PDI-03 to my 2nd mini Plexi to my 2nd PDI-03 and then run a dry and wet signal to my mixer. There are other ways to use these but wet / dry was mentioned. Ed actually used the PDI-03s at some point in time.
:thumbsup

AFAIK, EVH still use the PDI-03 to feed the wet part of his rig.. :)
