View Full Version : Ibanez RG550 Reissue
07-08-2007, 07:43 PM
I'm looking at getting one of the new RG550 Reissues. However, they don't seem to be in stock anywhere, at least no Yellow Or Red ones. Musiciansfriend states that they are "discontinued".

they were just a limited run werent they?
07-08-2007, 08:02 PM
Hmmmm, I should look into this. I was hoping to snag one.
07-08-2007, 08:16 PM
I would like teh yelly!
07-08-2007, 08:30 PM
yeah, they were limited edition, I think like 800 made of each
07-08-2007, 08:36 PM
Don't they normally say "limited"for all the ads??? The ads I saw just stated "Ibanez RG550 Reissue. The Kramer 1985 Reissues aren't limited are they? Only 800 of each??? That's crazy.
07-08-2007, 08:51 PM
That's the same guitar...right?
07-08-2007, 08:57 PM
It has the albino rosewood!!
:happy1 :happy1 :happy1
07-08-2007, 09:00 PM
Yeah, that's the same guitar
07-08-2007, 09:19 PM
It seems all other country links on the Ibanez site have the Liminted RG 550 Reissue ad. But the USA version of the site has it as the "RG Prestige RG550MXX",...Could the Limited mean that they only did so many with the matching Case, Strap, picks etc??? But the guitar will still be produced?
07-08-2007, 09:21 PM
There were only 1987 of them made total and in 3 different colors. Desert yellow with maple fretboard, Road Flare Red w/ maple fretboard, and black with rosewood fretboard. You could check ebay to see if they have any. 899.99 was the street price for them brand new, anything lower than that would be considered a "good" deal.

I remember when a guy on Ebay had a package deal of all 3 of them for $4000, what kind of Idiot would buy that? lmao
07-08-2007, 09:36 PM
That's real dissapointing they only made a handful of these. I mean come on, they use to mass produce those things in those colors!
I just listed a black w/ maple board RG550 from the late 80's earlier today on Ebay. I'm sure I'll end up regretting not keeping it.

Stop the Auction! NOWWWWW!!! lol
they are pretty cool guitars, i could get one in desert yellow with Pink Dimarzios for $500 from a Friend who is selling his

Here you go bro.
07-09-2007, 01:02 PM
Thanks for the tip Phred! They're really jacking up the prices on the Red and Yellow. Many stores still have the black ones in stock.
07-10-2007, 09:49 PM
So I offer this guy 950.00 for his Ibanez since the auction died.He was asking 995.00. He said no way he was going to relist for MORE Money.
07-11-2007, 12:16 AM
In case anyone is interested here's one for 679.00 brand new:
IF it were only Yellow or Red!
07-11-2007, 01:15 PM
Yea but that's the boring black one with the rosewood board.... nothing special, ibanez produces about a billion black rg's with rosewood boards a year.
They only made 1987 of all the RG550 reissues. My buddy has a red one - it's amazing, one of the best guitars I've ever played. But he still plays his stupid squier tele cause he likes EMG's more.

It is a boring look. I just can't believe people are asking so much less for those. They retailed for the same price as the colored ones. There are some fools who are trying to get 1100-1200 on ebay for the black ones.
07-14-2007, 01:28 PM
A Yellow one is on its way to Me! Cost me 965.00 including shipping. Now watch the price drop on all of them.

This guitar is probably the only Ibanez that I actually want. Unfortunately, I'm broke, and even if I weren't I doubt I could convince the woman that I need another guitar.
07-14-2007, 07:22 PM
They are excellent guitars, i'm sure you will love urs. The new Rg550 are beter than the old ones in a few ways to. Good score :thumbsup
