Yes, What the Hell is wrong with me? I just bought a Epi LP, now wanting another one... and out of all guitars, it has to be a telecaster!

I'm selling my samick bass (on another fourm) to buy another bass with different pickup configs, but instead wanting to get a MIM telecaster (or at least one of those Kramer Telecasters with a floyd) and willing to consider getting that and putting the amp I want on hold yet again.

Then I decided I would get a Kramer Striker 424FR, but I keep deciding to get a telecaster, they are really great guitars :drool

can anyone talk me out of it? :)

edit: Also, MIM tele prices at my local store have gone down, so I won't be paying over $1000 like i did with my MIM strat :D

I have three Tele bodied guitars - but only one true Fender with the single coils. I love it as much as the rest of my metal guitars. It plays great and you can't get that pure tele sound from any other guitar. Just pick up any Cinderella album and you will hear a tele's versitility in rock n' roll. Gypsy Road was recorded using a 52 tele. Get one!

I remember a day or 2 before I bought my strat, I tried a MIM telecaster and a USA telecaster through a Marshall DSL100, loved the sound and feel of both of them. On the way to the music store the day I bought my strat, I couldn't decide to get a strat or a telecaster :D

Now all of the sudden, a few weeks after getting my epi lp 2nd hand, I'm wanting a telecaster (I'm starting to feel bad because Its not a Kramer and I kind of promised myself next guitar I get has to be a Kramer).

I guess another guitar in the collection I have now (Strat, LP) won't hurt.

Get one!

I guess talking me out of getting a Telecaster Isn't working out :D

What!? Blasphemy!

A Kramer Telecaster with a Floyd is :drool
MIM Tele is :-X

Should be the other way around.

'I want a Kramer Tele's with a Floyd, or at least one of those MIM Fender Telecasters'

Aaaah so much better now :D :D

its ashame that I don't see any kramer tele's on ebay much (atleast one with a floyd). Not to mention how much they would cost now :yikes

I guess you can never have too many guitars...in a way, its kind of a good thing, Its kind of like a spare/backup to other guitars and if anything happens to them, you have something else to play on....

I've been wanting a tele real bad for a few months now.My band plays rock and country and I would really like to have that tele tone on the country stuff.I really like the looks of the tele w/floyd kramer and I have enough parts less the body to put one together.I've got a NOS beak the would look great on a tele body w/floyd.I know it wont have the tone of a real tele but it would look killer.I really need to win the lotto or something. My addiction is only growing.:lol

Yeah, country tone.

Just wait, first you put it together and say 'Ok I'm going for a country tone'

Next thing you know there's a JB in the bridge and you're playing Ratt riffs all day :D :D

I've been listening a lot to Poison - Native Tongue lately and want a tele my damn self. Lovin Richie's tone throughout the album. :strat

I've got an American Tele, it's the Nashville Series with the B-Bender. It's got a vintage Tele single in the bridge, a Texas Special in the middle, and a chrome lipstick in the neck. Sunburst finish, and a maple neck. Yep, all factory.

Trust me, that guitar is in a different world in its ow right!

I absolutely love the sound I get out of it for swing country, rock/metal, and even blue grass.

Man, when you get a Tele in your hands it's hard to let go. For some reason those guitars take you in different directions than you'd normally go.

I say get one man!

One thing I can appreciate is the less dramatic top routing on tele's....It's no secret I am not fond of Fenders, except for the rear routed Fender US Custom shops...but IMHO the Tele is the prettiest most decent sounding standard Fender!

(just for the record, I owned many Fenders since they ARE the brand that in the old days offered lefty's at a decent price. Owned a Sunn Strat (you remember those?), Something Fender strat, Started Fender Jap strat, moved into US HB strat and BC Rich, moved into a Custom 'Jackson/Gibson hybrid RR V, then a rear routed custom strat, into Lesters and Kramerlike guitars....:headbang I sold each one of them, don't ask ;) )

I'd kill for Richies tone, Get his solo stuff, the variety of styles is amazing.
Slashrox, I can't talk ya outta getting one. I believe everyone should have one. Hate the say it but it's what I play the most. The tone of a string thru you can't get with a Foyld. Grab a mex for cheap, slap a twang king in the neck, and a chopper T in the bridge. It's a blast

they are way to versitle not to have one I went to buy one recently and ended up with a 60th strat as an investment. I will buy one soon!

Sorry, man, I can't help ya - I want one too! I think sunburst with a maple fretboard is my favorite combination. At the moment, there's an '85 Baretta Reissue standing between me and that Tele, but as soon as I buy the Baretta (then wait enough time so my wife won't kill me) . . . well, it might just be time!!! ;)

You guys can convince so easy :lol :jump

I will put my bass up in the Klassifieds soon...I have the money for the telecaster, but I also don't have the money (I had to lend some money to family member, should be paid back soon enough).

I would kill for a Telecaster in midnight wine with a maple board :drool Or a Black Telecaster (with black pickguard) :drool

No more guitars for me for a while (until christmas/birthday :D)

Nothing wrong with wanting to get a Tele, or any other guitar for that matter.
It is pretty narrow minded to only want Kramer guitars.
After all, How can you truely appreciate your Kramer's with out having a standard of comparison.

Only you can set your own personal priorities.
We all get them ass backwards from time to time.
Why shoulld you be any different?

I'll second that. I have a variety of guitars. I like them all or they would be gone. I'm going through a Les Paul thing myself right now. Tele's are nice, do it.............

I played a Peavey Generation tele and thought it was a very sweet sounding guitar. Dan Gatton played a tele and he had some of the best rock tone around.

I gotta admit I hate all Fenders (I know, I know, there's something pathologically
wrong with me, pls. don't take it personal if your fav.
guitar is a Fender)

But, lest we forget, The Karate Kid! :headbang

during one of those incendiary solos...

I wish I had the $$ to build my own tele from Warmoth or from ebay parts. I may beg for a tele Saga kit for my birthday or christmas.....But then would have to ditch the cheap parts and upgrade.......:bling

Found a few nice tele bodies at axesrus.com a while ago. I'd love to use one of those. They make me want a whole range of tele's.

Basically same here...the only Tele style guitars I like are the Kramer takes on them (Classic and Mick Mars models) and also the ESP Archtop take on it, they are very cool.
Any other tele's don't do it for me, the tone just doesn't have much of a place in Metal and they feel annoying.

Each to their own.

One thing about the Tele though, they seriously make you bring out your "A" game. They aren't forgiving like a Les Paul or a Pacer etc. They seem to pick up ever nuance of your fingering and you gotta be spot-on or sound sloppy. You hear someone playing a tele all night and sounding really good.. they ARE really good.

Shit. No chance I'd ever get on playing a tele then!!! Always knew why I loved my LP's and Pacer so much.

Nothing wrong with a Tele. I prefer it over my Strat. I can't compare it to my Kramer, they are just way too different to compare.

You need to have more than one guitar to cover the tonal palate.

Im with you on that quote one Dan, I personally love the telecaster...

1 Telecaster + 1 Fender Twin = Heaven:drool

But so does

1 Baretta + Marshall Wall = Heaven. Its horses for courses.
My brother has an 83 us standard. Its a beauty. It plays real nice.

1 Telecaster Thinline HM + 1 Mesa Dual Rectifier with cabinet= Hell :idea

No joking now... Telecaster always a classic, quite simple guitar but always a good sound and easy to play.

is a Highway 1 Tele or strat a USA fender?

I'm asking because it has 22 frets and USA fenders have 22 frets.

Yes, at that price
I really don't believe they have a Highway in their Mexican line
I'm no Fender pro, I've never seen a Tacocaster for more then 5 bills. Now the Japan models different story

I was thinking...instead of a telecaster, I am going to get a SSS pickguard for my strat and put in some kinman single coils (thanks for telling me about the kinman pickups Aaron :thumbsup ), and get a Bullseye red Kramer 1984 :drool (its probably about time I get a Kramer anyway :thumbsup)

I listened to the kinman sound clips and they sound shitloads better than the stock pickups in my strat.

The stock mex strat pickups sound too tinny and don't have the fender sound I like.
