Hey guys, I am a new member here! I am 16 and live in new york and am a sleaze metal fan. Fucking love the stuff! G'n'R, Faster Pussycat, LA Guns, its all great! I mostly joined this forum to learn about sleaze and glam metal from guys who obviously lived through the era and loved it! I only have two kramer guitars, One striker and One Baretta. The striker is actually signed by don dokken which is kinda cool(kinda makes up for the crap that it calls sound:lol) The baretta is pretty cool candy apple red, reverse claw neck, and a dimarzio X2N in it. I was thinking of selling it though. I really am more of a les paul kinda guy, and I was thinking of letting it go and either finding a les paul with a kahler, or a pacer imperial(really miss the front pick up on the baretta during my sleazy solos) anyway you guys keep on rockin

I live in the city. 66 and lexington. Yeah it is pretty sweet to know there are other kids out there who love the music. I really want to form a hair/sleaze metal band, but none of the musicians I know will bite. their loss. what about you where do you live? Got a great band? peace out

I'm in Astoria, NY, and also a fan of that genre--although I am partial to the term "glam metal." :headbang
I do have to admit that the reason I got my first Kramer was because it looked like something CC Deville would play! :D :vee

I think you might be a little hard pressed to find a LP with a Kahler though.
I would think though since you're into the "shred and metal" a Kramer would be right up your alley.

LA Gunner:
Welcome! I am 27 years old, so I wasn't in High School during the "glory days" but still grew up listening to it/buying the albums from a very early age. I love Sleeze Metal just like you, and I've always noticed that all Sleeze Metal bands use Les Pauls, especially black ones. I'm not a big fan of Les Pauls, but I can sure see why you're looking for one.
Welcome and good luck in what you decide!

Hey dude- welcome!
Nice to see an entire era is'nt completely lost on the current generation of future guitar gods. I hope you find what you're looking for here. Within these guys & gals lies a wealth of knowledge & resources. I have to ask you: Which Beretta do you have? Is it an '80s model or one of the new Yo's? I find it curious you'd prefer a LP for our generations music- but mabey you're more the Steve Clark type:scratchhe I'm sure if you keep looking here you'll find a rodded LP, or at least someone competent enough to customize one for you. & if you really want to part with your Beretta somebody will snatch it up quickly. Anyway, glad you're aboard.

Hey Schwayman, I have a facebook. My name is Phil Bartel. Dont really use it much, rather play guitar or lacrosse, but definetly send me a friend request.
I think my baretta must be an 87 or 88. Its a baretta 1, with the lower horn scoop. I must say, it really is a visually stunning guitar.I get comments whenver I play it for friends.
yeah, I personally love les pauls. Definetly the way for sleaze metal. Slash,Tracci guns just to name two I got an old standard on ebay A while ago for cheap, and I must say it is my favorite guitar. While it might not have the mojo of a vintage kramer guitar, I feel like a guitar god when I play it. I was looking for a les paul standard from the 80's with a kahler and found this. Maybe if I sold my baretta and saved up for a while a could get one. http://cgi.ebay.com/GIBSON-LES-PAUL-STANDARD-1985-VINTAGE-TREMELO-PAF_W0QQitemZ170091908439QQcategoryZ38086QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item170091908439 does any one here own a Pacer imperial and a les paul with a locking tremolo? how do they compare?
I am so glad to finally have some people to talk to who love this music. Very few of my friends can talk about this stuff, and they gerenerally only know about poison or crue. I think this place will do wonders for my knowledge!

Bruce (bkeen) is the best one to ansewr your Imp. v FR equipped LP.
He has a stunning Les Paul with a factory fitted Floyd Rose, and I'm sure he'll have an Imp. on had to do a comparison with ;)

I have a beak necked Pacer Imperial. Within the next two weeks I'll have a flush mounted Floyd Rose for my Gibson Les Paul (see the ebay link below)

I can let you know once it arrives from Austria! Then we can start talks about swapping my Imp for your Retta. ;)
In the mean time, welcome... it's a friendly place.

A Les Paul definately has a bold in your face tone to it.
I have a 84 LP Silver burst Custom and it is an increadable guitar.
Better than a Kramer? Gibson worshipers would certainly say so.
I say thier just different. Compareing to LP's that are mostly made of mahogany and some with a maple cap. The Kramer Night Swans, Pro-axe's and the Paul Dean Signature model are all mahogany guitars.
You talk of selling your Baretta and saving money to get a LP.
What are you going to play until you get your money saved up and how long is that going to take?
You might do some soul searching into why you want to get an LP. Because other people think it's cool?
Sometimes we spend so much of out time looking at what somwbody else has that we don't realize what we have.
Selling you Baretta is going to get you about 1/3 of the money you will need for an good LP. Straight up. That LP is not going to instantly transform you into a increadable guitar player.
But selling your guitar and not having one for six months or a year will definately not help.
Just something to think about.
Lp's are one of the most uncomfortable guitars to play especialy if you sit and play because were the cutout is it puts most of the body behind you and you almost strum/pick on the fret board.
I'm not trying to tell you not to get an LP.
Just to think about your resources, and don't sell the Baretta. Keep it, practice, save your money and buy whatever guitar you think you want.
Then sell the Baretta.
Never sell your only guitar for any reason.
And never buy a guitar because someone else plays one or someone else thinks they are cool.
Damn, I sound like an old guy. Rock on.:headbang

Hey Tommy, I have more than one guitar. Over my three years of playing I have accumulated 5, not as large as some of youre collections, but they get the job done:D I have my baretta and striker, a used les paul standard and a les paul junior. I also have a warmoth strat. Out of my guitars, my too les pauls are my favorite. Not because some guitar god uses them, they are just my favorite. i would never sell my only guitar. I would go crazy withou one. thanks for the advice though its much appreciated

I have to agree with you there, although I like les pauls and enjoy playing them, They are uncomfortable to play. for me to get up to the 22nd fret, I have to put the guitar on my knee to do that (not trying to copy Slash though :D its just hard to get up to the 22nd fret :lol )

You rang? :D
Forget the Kahler man! It is ok but nothing like the Floyds....
Here is the ultimate LP for me. The body is 2/3 the width of a standard and 2/3 the weight but I don't notice much LP tone loss because of it or the Floyd. It's 100% a shredding machine! R2 nut! Thinner neck than the 1960 slim taper. The 22nd fret isn't a problem on this one! Look at the extra cut on the cutout....
Here is the catch. They are RARE and very :money :money :money :money and I will be right there bidding against you! :D

I wrote for a quote and they gave me a price of like $4000. The only thing special on it was the Floyd!
:banghead
I'll tell you, if they did have a reasonally priced EC -1000 with a Floyd I would be all over it.
It is my belief that what ever factory makes the ESP EC -1000s also made the Kramer Customs. My Kramer custom is my favorite non floyd player and I even find myself learning new tricks to fill in for the lack of a floyd because I like playing that guitar sooo much...

Yeah, that Kirk Hammett LP is pretty basic... And just under a Grand :yikes
No that won't do. It has a maple body. Your not going to get LP tone out of that one.....
This ESP Kirk Hammett Signature Electric Guitar forges crushing, modern tones with a versatile single-cut body style. The KH-603 guitar has EMG-81 pickups and a thru-body neck for outrageous sustain. Rosewood fretboard with extra-jumbo frets features an inlay combo of Kirk's trademark skull-and-bones, spiders, and the model number at the 24th fret. This Kirk Hammett Guitar is constructed from a maple body and includes an original Floyd Rose tremolo, 2 volume controls, a tone knob, and 3-way switching controls. All black hardware.
Your better off buying an Epi LP with floyd for 1/2 the price.

Oh my god. That les paul is absolutely stunning! I am glad they are so rare. SHould give me time to save up my money! I am pleasantly surprised to hear that the tone is not sacrificed too much with that tremolo. Is it rear routed? either way, one of the sexiest guitars ever. Do you know what other colours where produced?

I have only seen this one and a white one. Ever! :D
There is very little info on them. They were made between 1987 and 1989. I do believe they made them in black too. There are more out there that have the stop bar config but very few Floyds. Hell, I've only found 3 pictures of them on the internet and 1 turned out to be my exact guitar.
