View Full Version : What's your holy grail?

The best tone thread has inspired me.

I know many people here consider the 83/84 Baretta to be the holy grail of Kramers but I know a lot of people (myself included) have their own holy grail Kramer. Basically what are they and why? This thread would go great with pics :thumbsup and it would also be great to let fellow Kramer bros know who to notify if they see an axe that they may not particularly like but is another's holy grail :bananahea

My holy grail would be a late model (88-90) Flip-Flop Pink Pacer Custom I with the body cutaways, maple board, blower switch and reverse headstock (although either would do :drool :drool :drool

What about you guys?

there are at least 6-8 holy grails posted up on kramermaniaxe's site. An Enterprise with case verses a no bozo's baretta would be a hard choice for me.

Lt. Dan's Cherryburst Liberty that I will fondle like a pervert at the Expo. The guitar...not Dan. It's the only one that I know of.

I really like my Baretta... Not exactly a Holy Grail, but close. The only thing that does not put it there for me is that stupid Floyd route one of the previous owners routed into the body.. The rest is really cool!

Anybody here have one exactly like this? Those are extremely sexy. The flip/flop blue/purple one on e-Bay right now is awesome.

I would have to say if I could find a lefty Archtop stagemaster (i doubt any were ever made) that would be my Holy Grail.

Or a Sustainer or ProAxe (but obviously theres no chance of proaxe thanks to them not making floyd "pro" at that time)

That is awesome..if it came with a reverse very late 80s Pointy kramer headstock and solid colour, in similar to that but a bit more pink it would be my ultimate abstract shape :drool :drool

Here it is, only I want the blue stain finish. Okay, I'm kidding. I would gladly accept a pinkish purple one smeared with rhinocerous shit. :)

Got a F/F pink PC I but no maple and it's an 87. Still a nice guitar though. I think for Kramer I have my grail in my '84 Baretta. In truth though my real holy grail would be a 60's Les Paul.

WAY too many to list. But maybe the f/f blue Deluxe that Reb Beach played in the 'seventeen' video would do it for me. Maybe.
Hell, just give me one of everything.

Hate to sound like a smartass but I heard from Reb that it wasn't actually a Flip/Flop but just a candy blue...and the lightning in the video gave it that effect. :thumbsup

Any of the Kline outer space inspired graphics for me. Not because a Baretta is the be all and end all but simply because I'm a science teacher and I'd love to have a "science inspired" graphic. Boring but true. Now who'se gonna swap one for my beak neck pacer imp? :scratchhe

I have two grails I wanted. The first, I was lucky enough to get yesterday, a white 'nana head Baretta.

The other, is a kramer baretta graphic done by Knapp I believe, its a guitar spaceship graphic. I love that one. I don't have a pic of it.

My holy grail is apparently owned by Chip Z'Nuff,

It is a:

Pyramid headstock, rev. Maple neck Baretta with a customized Lips graphic, the standard Lips is located herehttp://www.vintagekramer.com/classic4.htm

but the graphic modifed for the mouth to have a cigarette in it.

or a Rev. Claw Baretta I holoflashed:headbang

Rumor has it that it is the Holy Grail for a few reasons. First being that there were only oprox. 250 produced. Second this is the first model Baretta and the first Kramer model endorsed (although not played) by EVH. And because this is the model that ED posed with in the famous "No Bozo's" magazine ad. This guitar was obviously modeled after Ed's single slant pickup angled head guitars. This is mostly on Vintage Kramer.

I know I am gonna get lynched for this, but to me Holy Grail is all about tone. I have not tried/ nor have seen a 83 baretta, but my holy grail is my Ibanez Custom RG2020xtb, with Dimarzio Steve's Special and Air Norton in it. it is such a tank and so heavy. No other guitar I play can match it tonally. It sounds so full and warm. It is killer. Everything else, even my buddies 81 Les Paul Standard sounds thin compared to it. I will never part with that guitar!!

lefthandedshredder
04-02-2007, 04:23 AM
You're not going to get lynched for that!!!

Holy Grail is so personal, I mean my 2nd holy grail neck is a cheapo Jackson copy neck off a $150 Daion Performer!!

My holy grail would be my 86'-87' stagemaster...It has such a tonal weight to it and matched with a 20 year old JB, it sounds so sweet and full. She just had a full fret dressing and god does she play...

Definately the 83 Nontilt Baretta. The guitar that got me into Kramers. Basically, it's the closest thing you could get to Ed's 5150 (my ultimate holy grail) from the factory and the father of all Barettas (my favorite Kramer). Also, low build numbers, TOTAL 80s look, that HUGE banana headstock, unfinished neck, etc. etc. God I love em! I'm glad I got mine!

This is a hard question. When I first was collecting wood necked Kramers, my grail was a white Pacer Imperial with either a nana or beak head. I have the nana. I guess that at this point, my grail might be a cream beak Pacer Deluxe. :drool Or a F/F white nana Imperial, if such a thing exists. :drool :drool :drool :drool

I've owned a mint Enterprise with OHSC....
I've owned a maple-fretboard, nana Baretta....
I've owned a non-tilt, 'nana guitar....
I've owned a mint strat-hs Pacer with OHSC...
I've owned several Klines....
I've owned a one-of-a-kind, employee-made guitar (no other like it)......

I guess a "Holy Grail" for me would be......um.....er.....one of EVH or George Lynch's personal guitars.....and the ability to play them like they do. ;)

well mine is going to be the Maple nana Baretta that Rick posted!
(its OK Rick mines on its way:thumbsup )
I think this is the "holy grail" for me because it is(was) so elusive,
I wonder how many nana barettas were made with the maple neck/fretboard, I bet that the numbers are probably as low as the non-tilts.
I have a non- tilt and just dont play it that much at all I really wish I didnt hafta return a Strathead recently it was one of my favorites!:notworthy

white pacer deluxe with a white pickguard (saw it once) or a focus 3000.. yeah.. i'd take a focus for the grail.

once upon a time a dmz6000 would've been nice, but i'm out of the lumie stage.
