HARDLINE = DOUBLE ECLIPSE. Neil Schon from Journey. Its early 1990's. But it "ROCKS" The guitar playing and catchy tunes are rocking big time..

http://www.doubleeclipse.com/doubleeclipse.html
Gives you a tiny little glimpse. The guitar playing is awesome.

VINCE NEIL = EXPOSED. Steve Stevens is top of his game on that Disc. Again early 1990's 93 i think.

Promise you wont be disappointed.

Flotsam and Jetsam - No Place for Disgrace (2nd album)
Flotsam and Jetsam - Doomsday for the Deceiver (1st album)
Tesla
Slaughter
Savatage
Trouble

all not that much hair, but definately 80's metal....Flotsam caused quite some excitement back then with this album, but they couldn't keep their promise with following albums....it is my favourite 80's album!!!

Old

hmm, well i'm more into the mainstream hair metal, but i'd recomend you get these albums:

Bon Jovi's Self-Titled & 7800 Degrees Fahrenheit (both grossly underrated)

Whitesnake's Greatest Hits

Guns N' Roses Appetite For Destruction

Skid Row's Self Titled

Bill And Ted's Excellent Adventure Soundtrack

Motley Crue's Dr. Feelgood

All pretty obvious choices (Appetite For Destruction!) but those are my favourites.

And Rchie Sambora's solo albums are great too, although theyre more blues than metal.

Man I don't even know where to begin. There are just so many worth checking out.
An absolute must have is Lynch Mob 'Wicked Sensation'.

How about these:

Tesla (any)
Great White (anything from 'hooked' or older)
Loudness
Accept
Iron Maiden
Jake E. Lee era Ozzy
RR era Ozzy

Some of those are kinda obvious. Here are a few that may not be:

Kik Tracee
Enuffs Z Nuff
Babylon A.D.
Dirty Looks
Heavens Edge
Savatage

The list goes on and on....

Jimmy:
-Britny Fox
-Enuff Z' Nuff
-Cry Wolf
-Damn Yankees
-Coney Hatch
-Mr. Big
-Lynch Mob

Vince Neil's Exposed has Steve Stevens totally let loose without question you have to get that plus 'Atomic Playboys' Stevens solo album is well worth hunting down. BTW less of the OLD, it just seems like yesterday to most of us here:D

No way man! I like Turbo.:thumbsup
I know what you mean though. It's probably not my favorite. I'd probably have to say 'Defenders of the Faith' rates right up there though.

Most of these bands are either from the UK or USA. Does anyone know some great metal bands in other countries ? I came across years ago at a CD store called FYE that had a CD from the band Stratovarius. They are from Helsinki, Finland and they sure do rock.

Couple of off the wall bands I dug in the 80's.

Icon - really good CD that for some reason never took hold, very Whitesnake'ish' in its sound
XYZ - Very good stuff and has the 80's vibe
Kings X - Well, I'm going to suggest them no matter what, but they don't sound 80's, but are a product of the 80's.

All the hair (V)etal guys here and no one mentioned
LIZZY BORDEN? :scratchhe

Lately, I've been picking up CD's dirt cheap on E-bay. I also just snagged a JUDAS PRIEST circa 1982 7" picture disc for next to nothing.

Buy Judas Priest Metal Meltdown.
It is a two CD live recording that has all thier good stuff. The tone of the sound is great. It doesn't sound hollow and trebely like so many live recordings.

Don't overlook Ozzy.

I completely forgot about Lizzy Borden, they were GREAT:headbang

especially the performance of "Born to be Wild" in the Decline Of Western Civilization Part. 2: The Metal Years

BTW: Tommy, is that the one with Ripper Owens on vocals (live Meltdown '98)?

I've been meaning to pick up the Jugulator CD recently, but just havent got around to it
