That looks like he was gearing up for a full blown graphic like snowdog has! I like the elegent simplicity too.

Snowdog, go over to vintage Kramer and look under the parts and paint section. There are pages of pics of different grahics that were done at Kramer. Also, the collections section, and the registry. Awesome stuff.

Also, search the word "klines" on here. there was a thread awhile ago where everyone showed pics of their Kines.

Again we're looking at a theme developing there when comparing with the reeel to reel & train wheels this one seems to echo the same approach as nightwatch has just said.

someone about a month ago was asking me if i had a pic of that guitar. the paint job is called "crack 'n gears". i have it similarly painted on one of my mx helmets. bigger crack and more gears tho.

no, its not a 1 off......... and i stopped at dennis' house last week on my way home from my shore houses, and someone answered the door, said that they used to get calls for a while looking for him (guess they didnt change the phone #) after they moved in, and they think he moved "somewhere around the block" but didnt know where. they knew he was "some artist from seaside" ( actually, no , toms river, where they live now......duh)

im at a loss.

-edit again-
sorry i screwed up. there was a "gears I" and "gears II" this one looks like gears I

I remember Dan following some leads in Toms River but it being fruitless, we reckoned he'd be getting on a bit sure enough but ever hopeful the man is still around to get the plaudits he's owed. I think the best bet would be to get in touch with some of the custom bike painting community over that side.

I know Gary Kramer used Nubby a couple of times for custom jobs on the delta wing. Nubby being the dude that does some work for Orange County Choppers on Discovery. Not exactly in the same neck of the woods though (just the same state).

OK guys, here is how you do it.

Find the State you think he is in.

Find a Law Enforcement buddy or a 911 operator and ask if a DMV record exists. Don't ask for an address, it illegal.

Go to the DMV and request an address or contact number. If they won't give it, say you had an accident with that person and you are trying to contact them...offer your info if needed.

If this dude is alive and kicking, he can be found.

My guess is that he has no computer and has no idea he has a following that wants to pick his brain and ask for some more custom work.

Actually the easy way (if Kline was official K employee) would be just to contact any of the CO principals and see if they have records of his withholding -like SS# <---then you have him.

What about what I said earlier about contacting some of the principles and see if there's any employment records for Kramer Corp left. Wouldn't Kline's be there and if so you'd have an SS # -then you got him.

I was interested in that one and no conclusion was reached on the forum discussion at the time. I archived the page after it sold and the pics are there. I don't know how to post the archive. It is saved as 'webfiile single file". That's where I pulled the item number to find the link.

I think they pull the records too fast too. We would have a tremendous sales record and a tool to see the frequency of certain models floating up out of the wild iIf we could search completed kramer auctions back several years or more.......

I will have Denis and Dennis Both run Monday. Along with a ton of Law peeps, My best friend ( yeah I'm still 12) is a constable for all of NJ and NY. When You Owe anything to any co, he is the guy who finds your assets. He has access to SS#'s. bank accounts and Dl. He says there is software for such chasing and he bets he can find said paint person. Poor guy, He is going to see like 200 long hairs holding money at the door of whatever convalescent center he is in. :D

Next question.... Did he paint these here in Neptune? where did he do his work? he must have been a fellow Jersey resident Correct? If necessery, I will knock on doors in his neighborhood and see who remembers the 80's. neighbors love to gab

Don't bury this guy just yet, remember that anyone over about 45 has a darn good chance of not being Internet savvy. Yes Its true, people can survive without this toaster, and some even use something called a pencil and paper. I hear of elders who can add too. So he might just be out there.

Thanks Lee, I will be back there Sun. Lets see what I can get from the local cop at the desk. Its a vacation spot down the eastern shore, so this time of year its a barren desolate place with few visitors. Its a good time to bug the municipality without taxing their delicate system. ha ha. OK there are like 3 cops and a guy who is the mayor, the Life guard and the owner of the dry cleaners.

Where is that guy who had Klein paint him guitars. Didnt he know him personaly?

Here is my email to nosy family member.
PS want anyone elses credit ruined? I can try and forward Eddie Vh's mail to your address mike?...

I have work for your super system bro....
Here is the deal. Back in the 80's there was an artist who hand painted guitars here in NJ. His name was or is Dennis Klein. Or Denis Some say. He worked as an employee of the now defunkt Kramer guitars in Neptune NJ. For years now Guitars with his paintings on them Get Many bids on ebay. They are Liked by a selct club of geeks, not unlike the Tail wheel planes. So My club on the net The Kramer Form, has been looking to find this Holy grail for about 3 years now. Of course you can imagine that rumors fly, he is dead, he is in a nursing home etc. He is in his late 50's to late 60's and so he might not be internet savy. One guy said he may have been gay, so maybe he has no kids tell him he is somewhat famous, so We are hoping to find something on this guy. All I have for you to go on is that name, and the fact that he was a resident in Neptune NJ in the mid 80's he painted these guitarts into about 1987. Rumor has it that he would visit the factory, take the guitars home paint them and return. So that's what I have to go on... Can you see if any bank account or anything on a man with this common name exists in NJ? Denis, or dennis Klein...

In case you care here is some of his work collected by a maniac fan and friend of mine.. http://vintagekramer.com/classic8.htm

Thanks Man
G

His reply......
Wow your up early.
Just tried, only found 46yr old on monmouth county , called the number and the guy went off on me "nicely" explained it was early for a wrong number etc. no I dea who I was talking about. My access searches current location and results with sharing the previous if recorder in history by any law or collection agency. Only Klein in NJ startin with D / Male / in that age range 65-85 were a few Donalds / I can show you monday and will try from the office (older data base) Try to scrape up more info . Kids names...possible new State ..do not say florida! many many many names like Klein im FLORIDA If you get me.

To this site a favor: If you find info on Dennis, DO NOT POST IT HERE, or please don't give out the info in the PM's.

We must respect the privacy of individuals. Maybe if he is hard to find, he made it that way...or if we are lucky, he will be excited that he has a cult following and make a guest appearance. Anyway, I would hate to see some guy get calls from all over the world because a phone number was posted.

I did this one time as a joke on EVH.com I told everyone I had Eddie's cell number and not to call it. I lead them on for awhile and finally posted it. THe number was to the LA county morgue. Man those dudes were effin pissed! Calls all throughout the day from all over the world asking for Ed. It's a funny story but you get the point.

Yes, I'm assuming you needed these votes to determine how many would sell to cover the cost of printing. I was thinking that with the currant rage of all that is Kramer and Kline <spell ha that you would sell off many of them.

GtarShark

The printing would be outrageous, I know that. I'd campaigned for a bigass web collage piece tho. Printing posters on minmum I'd say MAYBE 500$ to even get started.

I dunno much about poster pricing, I just do the art work and the printer/s handles the rest.

Hey RSB, thanks. I got a reply from the owner of Octoman. Sadly 4 me. he's not selling it but in my reply I thanked him and asked for some pics and said I'd post them here. Also invited him to come join the forum.

Here's his initial reply:

"Hi Lee,

Thanks for the message. Unfortunately I already built the guitar back up. The project turned into a runaway freight train. I even managed to add to the body's issues that were already basically unrepairable. The guitar will never be to the level where many Kramer Collectors would want it. It is a long story, but I made some bad calls. My plan of bulding my "Ultimate Kramer" turned into a "Seriously Expensive, Seriously Messed Up Kramer". I do love the thing though! If I ever sold it, I would loose my shirt and the buyer would probably eventually be unsatisfied because some flaws just can't be covered up 100%.

Thanks - mper203878"

...maybe I can persuade him to sell it! :thumbsup

Lee, and the rest. I'm here in Neptune Now. I am doing nothing but whats legal and I intend on nothing more then to make this person or their estate aware of there status in this community. If he or his agents embrace that news and care to rear their head(s) great, if not that's fine too. At least we will know whats what.

I volunteered to do this because I read that nobody knew the ultimate whereabouts of Mr Kline. If its some sort of Kramer myth and you all want to keep him an enigma, thats fine too, I will keep the info to myself.
