Check out the Youth Gone Wild Tab- it looks like Snake is playing a les paul body with a Kramer neck- was that a mutt or a one off? And Scotty's playing a Spector right?

Youth Gone Wild- Skid Row (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-8922557162655452719&q=skid+row&hl=en)

Solo starts around 2:06 and the guitars are right there

looks like they did some guitar swapping... during the beginning its a les paul with lp headstock... then switches guitars in the solo...

This is still one of my favorite solo's from the 80's...yeah, ok, it's a power ballad, but damn, that's a cool solo in that song :thumbsup

Here's a nice shot of Dave Sabo with a "Kramer." I love the early Skids! (especially Slave to the Grind)

I do believe most of their guitars were custom-made by luthiers in NJ and just slapped with a Kramer logo, though. :-| They might have played a couple of stock models, but I do believe most were customs, IIRC. I recall Steve Z knowing a bit more about this--as he is from their neck of the woods. :thumbsup

My buddy bought this deck of cards in the early 90s, picked out the Jerry Garcia cards he was looking for, and handed me the rest. Some cool shots in there. :D

Scotti used to play a mutt put together by his tech, a mahognay dinky body with some other neck, floyd. There's a live clip kicking around of Monkey Busines on SNL or somethign where he's playing it.

If they look like a LP Jr. with a Spector neck/headstock and FR, they were put together by Chris Hofschneider.

I do have more from that deck, but honestly most are not scanned in. I did scan in all the ones with Kramers/Spectors--most of these shots were taken in '89-'91 when unfortunately musicans had already started to turn away from "pointy" instruments. For example, Cinderella is in that deck too, but only with Fenders, Gibsons, and Dobros. (Tom Kiefer)

Snake's "Snake Kramer" is actually a custom guitar made at Garden State Music center in Tom's River, NJ. Besides being the coolest guitar store around in the 80s, they also made custom guitars that were painted by Kline. The guitars they made were called "custom dreams" and usually had that on the headstock, however Snake swapped it out with a Kramer neck. Zakk Wylde's shattered glass LP was painted at Custom Dreams as well.

I believe that the other guitars that looked like a cross between a Spector and a Gibson were assembled by Rod Schoepfer who also made Ritchie Sambora's guitars.

I was lucky enough to be at SKID ROW'S First ever Official UK show. Supporting BON JOVI on the New Jersey tour at Milton Keynes. Also appearing were VIXEN and Europe.

Second time i saw them they Were supporting MOTLEY CRUE. WHITE LION were also on the bill. How about that for a night of Riffage :headbang :headbang . Sebastian Bach, stood on the bass drum and shouted to the crowd, "What the fuck you lot looking at" Then proceeded to sprint to the front of the stage and dived into the crowd. Straight into myself and many many others. Shit loads of security pulled him out. That guy could play the showman. ah great memories.

I've got a copy too. It is scratched to hell and back though. For those of you who can't read Bas' shirt in that Saturday Night Live Clip... it says

"I spent all of my money on booze, boots, and broads the rest I wasted"

I'll never forget it. I still have it on video. I was/AM a HUGH Skid Row fan. I know every solo note for note. I plan to put one in the recording section very soon as well!

has anyone ever heard the solo cd from Sabastian? It was very rare in the US. it was kinda cool, nothing like he was durring the Skid years.

I wish bands would start bringing in REAL singers again.

Sebastian Bach solo CD's...

Bach 2 Basics (covers)
Last of the hard men (mainly crap)
Sebastian Bach and friends (mainly live)

New cd out shortly... "Angel Down"

His current band are seriously heavy. Should be a good album. Still... can't beat STTG

Check out www.sebastianbach.com

And about Skid Row- i fuckin love that band. Everything about them is great. Dirty, gritty and fun rock n roll. I havent heard the new sebastian bach stuff yet but im sure its great, especially after hearing bachs voice live and in person w/ GNR at Hammerstein. I took a look some of the newer Skid Row stuff the other day (Thick Skin I believe) and that shit ROCKED! They still sound like themselves, something very rare with 'older' acts. The sole thing that could have made the songs I listened to was Sebastian's voice (not saying Johnny Thunders isn't doing a good job.)Otherwise they were pretty awesome.

itd be really interesting to find out what every body ACTUALLY played, not just what they endorsed.
Does anyone besides me notice the similarity between the headstock on Micks guitar and the headstock on the new Baretta VT?

All that stuff rocks :headbang I've always been a massive Skid Row fan, I also like the fact that their solo's sound different to most of the other solos at the time(which were still awesome)

They are easily one of the best bands ever, one of my faves, and Baz along with Milko from Steelheart has one of the best rock voices ever. Certainly a dazzling range.

Here is another shot of Mick with the white Kramer in question. Both photos come from the FeelGood tour, so mostly likely it is one of his 88-89 Custom Kramer American guitars. I have another photo of what appears to be the same guitar with a white truss rod cover clearly visable, so it is definetly there, just hard to see in the rock card photograph.

Custom Dreams guitars were actually more Charvel-like in their body shape and they had the San Dimas era control rout. I owned one in the late 80's but it was stolen from my room at Penn State in October '88. It was a killer guitar with a Kline MM graphic. Here is the only pic that I have of it:

The only reason skid row EVER played with jovi was because dave sabo was the original jovi guitarist before being replaced with Sambora., Jovi also had links with Cinderella as they shared the same record company.

Headstock was a Charvel/Jackson clone as was the body (rumored to have been supplied by C/J but I don't know). I wish I could but I don't recall the body wood. Original top mount Floyd and a Duncan SH-6 Distortion.
These "retailed" for $1100-$1300 but I snagged this one brand new at Hollowood Music in Pittsburgh in '87 for $790.
There were 4 of them in stock at that time, all painted by Kline. There was a Lynch-ish looking Bengal and a purple/bluish one with stars...I can't recall the last one.
