Lots of us have. And you'll have a hard time finding the finish blemish on those guitars. I had a hard time finding mine. Trust me, they aren't dented up as the name 'scratch and dent' implies. Its a very very minor finish imperfection, that in no way makes it less playable. I've used my 1984 live a few times, had other guitar players checking it out, not one of them said "so I see you must have got a factory second". All I get is "man that guitar is awesome."

thanks, i have an other question, on the web site it says (this is a copy and paste)
Kramer USA "Jersey Star" Reissue Guitar With Hardshell Case (Blemish)
in the brackets it says blemish, dose that mean that all are a blemeish and non are scrached or dented? thanks
Rick S

I would think so. My '84 has the smallest of a blemish. It took a long time to find it. No dents. No scraches. Go for it! I really don't think you will be dissapointed. And don't forget, use the link to Musicyo on the Vintage Kramer website. :thumbsup

Lieutenant Dan

You wont be disappointed, you'll get more guitar for your money with the JS than any other US made guitar. If you take care of it, it'll be here when you're gone. Yes it has dot inlays on the edge of the fretboard.
Daniel

Daniel

one more thing, would they sell like a fretboard with a chip in it?
and dose their 30 day money back count on the scrach and dent guitars? or are those final sale?
Lieutenant Dan

No, it's cosmetic only.
Yes, guarantee still applies.
Spend the money, get the nice guitar, go to bed.

Daniel

oo and is it set up by the factory???? and what is that 2nd black thing in the back?\
i know one is the tremalo, whats the other?
Rick S
06-09-2006, 08:49 AM
The 2nd 'black thing' is the electronics cavity cover. Volume pot, switch stuff.......Every guitar comes setup from the factory. However, chances are the way I like my guitar setup is entirely different than the way you or anyone else likes your/their guitar setup. My '84 came damn close to my setup specs. Its a super awesome great playing high quality long lasting cool looking guitar. Save up and buy it. :thumbsup

um... i am not buying the 84, i am buying the js, music yo toled me the scrach and dent ones are not coverd by the 30 day money back, that kinda sucks

Lieutenant Dan

Daniel,
From one Daniel to another, I'd give it a 10.
You best get hitched to that plow, and earn some coins this summer.
Your grand children will be playing it 60 years from now, and you'll wonder what the hell those noises are they're making with your Guit Fiddle.

Well, wait fella's.
Daniel, how young are you?
I think it is great that you are willing to work for what you want and are persistant in getting the info on it.
I got my first electic guitar by saving green stamps! I did odd jobs around the neighborhood for green stamps. Mowed lawns, raked leaves, shoveled snow, etc.
For you youngsters, green stamps were given out when you purchased things like groceries as an incentive. Kind of like the CVS bonus points now. They had a green stamp store where you could buy things with the stamps.
I guess I was around 7 or 8. The guitar was a sunburst kent! Single pup in the trem position too! :D
I made an amp out of an old tube record player amplifier. It worked pretty good for something built by an 8 yo.
Other than that, yes, this is a very funny thread!
:lol
:thumbsup

Yes the pickups are noiseless
Yes they are setup nice from the factory. If you get it shipped fed-ex to you it will still be in tune when you get it.
There is no chips in the fretboard. No chips in the paint. Just a tiny blemish in the paintjob that you probably won't even see.
They wil last and last and are built like tanks. The cases are very nice. Everything is nice. The sound is nice. Get the nice guitar. Play it. Be happy. Get some sleep.

Daniel, I'm glad your asking questions about a big ticket item you're going to have to work hard for. More of us adults should do the same. You should know exactly what you're getting. I don't know how old you are, but I'm guessing early to mid-teens - its a lot of money, but once you get it, it will be worth it. I like that you're being an informed consumer.
Once you've got enough posts, keep your eye open here on the seller/buyer section and ebay, I think you may one someone is selling and save yourself some money.
Daniel

:D I dont think he'll have a problem reaching 25 posts
What he meant was that once you reach 25 posts, two classified sections open up. Your almost there so be patient.
Daniel

If I'm not misinformed, the JS has an unfinished neck just like the 1984. So its really smooth and silky in your hands :thumbsup

Dan- I don't want to over-generalize here, but most, if not all, of the stuff you where able to reach and play in that guitar store is of a different quality than the models that where discussed earlier in this thread. They have been handled by who knows how many people and never wiped down. I haven't seen a guitar in a large outlet in years that was even setup to play that didn't require that they get the ladder out to pull and then they escort you like a prisoner transfer until it goes back on the rack (ask to play a dimebag tribute the next time you are there- not the $300 one, the $1200).
Whatever you end up buying, save an extra 50 bucks from your summer job, and have it setup/strung with the string guage you like (PS- start a new thread in tech if you haven't figured that out on the Squire) and get a white T-shirt and keep it with the guitar forever (give it a wash every now and then). Wash your hands before you play (every time) and wipe the strings and neck with the T whenever you set it down. Keep the skin oils and sweat from lingering on the guitar and strings and you'll double the life of your strings and avoid picking your new axe up in a week and feeling like "they (it) have (has) glue on them (it) or somthing"
Good luck on your quest, and keep that Squire tuned and play it every day this summer until you get your new guitar.

Basically, every guitar in a music store is used. I've even seen guys who work in music stores use the guitars and amps at GIGS and then take them back and onto the show room they go. :scratchhe :eviltongu
